Rylus is going into the town to work and see if he can play rugby with the boys afterwards. Though not as easy as it sounds. His head is overflowing with his family's values in companions. Just because they made it work doesn't mean Rylus wants their type.
Ryluscious (Ry-lu-cish)
Taiown (tie-own)
Just a help for some wondering about how to pronounce his name. It's centuries ago. Weren't all the names confusing to a point? Haha.
Enjoy.

Rylus gets into the market part of town and walks through. Traders of different kinds as well as shop owners. Smiths, farmers, and other goods on both sides of a busy street. Then he found his boss. Friend to his father. Percy.
"Rylus good morning." Greeted Percy.
"Salutations. How's it going this morning?"
"We have a special few items. Some bottles of wine, some fresh picked wheat, and a grand few different vegetables. Then of course our regular items of leather, metals, and mead."
Rylus took a look at all the goods. The alcohol in the right corner, the crops on the left and middle and the hard goods on a lower shelf. "What do you want me to do sir?"
"Watch for customers as I make an errand with a silver smith down the street. I won't be long. After, maybe polish the hard goods."
Rylus stood behind the stand as Percy took off. Traffic was picking up lunch time was coming soon. Wives and daughters of households were shopping around for meals for the next day or two. Men could go up and down the whole street for hours for supplies of any kind. Metals, food, and alcohol being the most popular items. Life at the market wasn't too bad. Mostly nice people. But anyone wise with experience knows that you have to be on your toes. How to negotiate, make sure you have a good presentation, and make sure no thieves were on the loose. An unwritten rule was to tell local traders if any theft was about. Shouting thief is caught in the action.
Rylus had manned the stand for close to an hour. A few have come and gone. Some wanting the vegetables over other stands due to the presentation and the mead always went fast around noon. He was in for trouble with the next customer. Hank the haggler. A regular bargain shopper.
"Hey kid. Two francs for the bottle of wine." He offered.
"Boss is asking five." Rylus had to be firm.
"Could you do three?"
"Four is hurting me but I'll do it. Deal?"
"Sure thing kid." He dropped the francs in his hand and carried on his way.
He kept composure. At his first offer no money would have been made. You can't give the house away when you're a trader. Just won't be in business long. Their were perks running the stand as well as downsides like the hagglers. Came with the territory. And for Rylus's sake he did get to interact with other people to know about how the people were doing. Including interacting with the girls.
"Hello Sir." Greeted a pretty blonde.
"Rylus Miss. How are you?"
"Is their anything I can do to for you to get this cabbage? A kiss you strong man?" She did not hesitate to ask the question. Calling a teenager a man and promising a kiss was quite the bribe for many.
"Nope. Not today." Tart.
"As you wish." She put the cabbage down and left in a huff.
Rylus smiled. Well Father and I know the Queen shouldn't whore over cabbage. The Prince just laughed to himself and carried on his business. It was another typical day in the life at the market.
Sure enough he didn't know that he was being under watch from someone. Three stands away from the right an alleyway he was being scoped out.
"She left furious. I don't know what he said to her. From this end I saw no malice yet he didn't relent." Checking out the whole scene from the front of the alley a black haired girl with light brown eyes.
"Oh Mary you are looking too into this." Said a short brown haired girl minding her own business.
"Annie something isn't right. You don't see him once it's dark. No one knows where he lives. I'm not crazy." Mary tried to ramble her theories.
"I understand, yet he may just want a private life. Maybe his home life isn't great. Perhaps a scary mother." Annie adjusted items in her basket.
"I'll be watching him."
"You could just talk to him. Maybe you have a liking of some sort?"
"Don't be so daft."
"You're attempting to eavesdrop on a rugby player..."
"I'm planning sabotage. And plot." She said heroically.
~~~~~
That's sentence I can only think of "For Canada, and all she stands for." Maybe just my humor. But Rylus has his pick up game soon. Where is it and who's going to be there? How's a Prince going to play rough and tough with the boys?
As always I hope all enjoyed, vote for more, comment freely, and as always have an awesome day cause you guys are the best and make this happen. Any questions or concerns are welcome. Love you all.
