Episode 18

At HaeSung Hospital

  It is the day before Shijin's appointed surgery and here he is now, still in bed, singing lullabies with KwanJoon who is busy drawing and coloring on Shijin's casted leg, making it the prettiest amongst all the other casts that ShiJin had before from previous injuries.

'Joon ah', shijin paused the singing.
'Wae?', KwanJoon replied as he continues to finish his work of art
'About what happened last time...appa promise that it will never happen again...next time, I promise that I will protect you with all of me.',Shijin said as he looked dearly into his sons wide and innocent eyes. He didn't want KwanJoon to grow up with such trauma in him. He wanted to tell him that there is someone there to protect him.

  KwanJoon stopped the movement of the marker in his hand and adjusted his gaze towards the window, not looking at shijin anymore. It was silence for a few seconds and ShiJin was contemplating with whether he said the wrong thing....

'Gwaenchana....actually, I knew that you would find me....because you're appa....and appa never disappointed me. But don't get hurt. Because that is what matters the most for me and Eomma.', KwanJoon gathered the courage to say this, he was thinking about this too while he spent time with his father. He didn't like seeing him in pain or worrying so much for other people that he ends up getting injured himself.

'Gaeurae....mianhae....that I got hurt.',shijin apologized. Speaking to his three year old was like speaking to an adult, where did all this intelligence come from?

'It's okay, just make sure you recover well. So you can take Eomma and I out to play.',KwanJoon acknowledged Shijin's apology and continued colouring again.

'Where do you want to go?', shijin asked out of interest.
'Hmmmm...fishing...I want to go fishing.', KwanJoon said after some consideration
Speaking of fishing, this was one of Shijin's favorite hobbies. He figured that the family never went fishing together other than just him and MoYeon when they were still dating a few years back.

'Geurae, appa likes fishing too. I know a good place and we can camp there as well!', shijin said excitedly.

'But appa, how can you fish when you can't even touch one?', KwanJoon asked teasingly
'Yah! Who said that?! Appa isn't that weak!', shijin was caught off guard, his brave image is now destroyed because of this shameful fact of himself.
'Stop lying, Eomma told me all about you~', KwanJoon teased.
Shijin could only hide from embarrassment under his covers, the two always attacks him on his weak spot.

  Daeyoung came to visit with his family a few moments later. EunBin and KwanJoon played together for a while as the adults were catching up with each other:
'I have something to say, The kids should be out. Please do me a favor myungjoo.', daeyoung said. MyungJoo understood what he meant and accompanied the kids out the room leaving ShiJin and Daeyoung alone.

'What is it?', shijin asked
'Jang WonHun was kept the intensive security prison in IlSan, and yesterday....',daeyoung paused and continued after he collected himself together, '...he suicided in his cell by hanging'.
'Mwo???!!! Suicide? But I didn't even talk to him.',shijin exclaimed in shock
'He left you this', daeyoung handed him a letter that was found in Jang WonHun's cell, it was addressed to ShiJin.
Shijin took the letter and unfolded it to read the contents:
"Major Yoo ShiJin,
  I have wronged against you and your family because of my blinded thoughts. I don't deserve any understanding and mercy. I am a disappointment to my family and I cannot forgive myself for that. There is no turning back from what I have done. Although this is nothing compared to the situation now, but I am truly sorry. My death should pay the price and may it bring peace upon the lives affected.
