You meet on an Airplane

You stare out the car window, silently hoping and praying that your journey to New York is a safe one. You detach your glare from the clouds above to look at your mom who was apparently calling for your attention for the past 10 minutes. You don’t really pay attention to what she says, you’re too worried about other things like being trapped in a tin box for 8 hours in the air where anything could happen. This is your first time in a plane and you probably wouldn’t be so worried if someone went with you to help with your nerves, but no one seemed to be able to give up a week of their time to go to America to visit relatives. So it was ok with them to send you instead, which you thought was totally ridiculous since you’re the only one with a job. Both your parents are retired so they get their regular checks in the mail every month, but other than that you are the main provider for the family.

You pull up by the curb and your mom gets out and gets your luggage from the trunk; she walks over to your door and knocks on your window rapidly, waking you up from your day dream.

“Y/N!” she repeats over and over, almost to the point where you grew tired of hearing your name.

“Coming.” you snap from your deep train of thought.

“Finally!” she rolls her eyes and sighs while helping you out of the car. “Here, I made sure to pack you a few goodies for the trip!” she giggles while handing you a small bag.

“Thanks, mom” you mumble and turn to face the airport entrance. You begin to walk with your bright pink suitcase close by your side when you see this super cute grin at you, you both keep eye contact. Suddenly your mom pulls you in super tight. “Mom!” you roll your eyes as the cute xguy laughs and breaks eye contact going into the airport entrance.

“Sorry sweetie! Now go have fun!” she released you and you give the realest looking smile you can fake at the moment. You head into the airport and are immediately intimidated by the large crowds of unfamiliar faces. Shoving and pushing your way through, you finally get past security and arrive just on time to board your plane. The lady takes your ticket and you walk down the gateway. It’s your first time on a plane… and you’re alone. But, how bad can it be? People do it everyday.

As you scan the isle you find your seat, noticing the empty one besides it. You stuff your rather childish bright pink suitcase in the compartment above, you realize how dumb it looks against all the other plain black upholstery. You sit down by the window and try to distract yourself from the fact that you’re riding a plane for the first time on your own. You look back to the empty seat, “This is perfect, now I have a place to put my legs when I have to rest’ you think to yourself.

“What do you mean you need to relocate me!? I paid for first class, now I have to sit in business?” a husky british accented man yells, yet again breaking your train of thought. You turn your head to find the same attractive looking male that you saw walking past you earlier.

“I know sir, you’ll be reimbursed once we land in New York, but for now we just need to find you a seat.” the flight attendant tried to reason with the angry passenger. She looked around for awhile, looked at the list she held in her hand, then her gaze fell upon you. “You don’t mind if this gentlemen here sits with you?” she asks.
