I took Gracie to a near by coffee shop called Java Jones. My mother had told me stories of her and Simon hanging here before she met my dad. I had a tad bit of money that Jace had slipped me on my 'Birthday".
I bought us each a cappuccino and we sat on a love seat in the very back. I handed Gracie her Cappuccino. She looked down and stared at it for a while almost like she wasn't even looking at coffee, but watching a puppy dying. Tears began to fall into the swirling, blazing hot coffee. I took her cup out of her hands and placed on the table in front of us. The hand that had been holding her cup fell to her lap. " You know, Gracie-"
" No one will tell me," She blurted out. She looked at me tears rushing down her face. Her eyes red and swollen. " No one will tell me how he died. Every one knows, but they all refuse to tell me. I was his daughter and I don't even know how he died so I don't even know what to think. Should I be happy because he died for the greater good in a courageous battle? Or should I going on a killing streak until find his murderer? Or should I be mad he that he left me here all alone with Alec, who is losing it and can barely eat? I just don't know Alexa," She sobbed.
I placed my hand on her back gently.
"From what I have heard Magnus was a great man. They told me about all the things he did to protect my mom and dad, Alec, and even Isabelle. My mom said that downworlders are not usually that generous towards the children of the nephilim and she assumed he was doing it to get closer to Alec at first. But then as time went on she realized he loved them and that he was just different. He was special. So even if he was murdered he still died a great man. We can still think about him and smile as we remember all his great achievements. So instead of doing what you are doing which in my opinion is a disgrace to his memory, let's remember the good," I suggested.
" okay," she sobbed.
When we returned to the institute Gracie left to go lay down. I was headed to the training room for some extra practice with my whip when I heard my dad yelling from the kitchen. I stopped at the corner and listened. " We have to find Sebastian! Stealing our daughter was one thing, but killing the greatest warlock of all time is despicable! We will end it this time! There has to be a way to kill a greater demon!" I gasped and quickly covered my mouth. I tip toed back down the hall towards the elevator until I was sure I was far enough away they couldn't hear me.
I rode the elevator to the third floor and sprinted down the hall and busted into Gracie's room. Gracie was writing in her journal sitting criss-cross apple sauce. Panting, I collapsed on Gracie's bed. " Are you alright?" she asked.
" Sebastian. killed. Magnus"
