The Royal Procession

The carriage seats were a dark velvet green. The king and queen both were wearing navy blue cloaks and dark green traditional attire. The princess was wearing a dark green embroidered shawl about her shoulders and a light green gown that almost covered her light green crystal slippers. Her long hair was adorned with green ivy which Arilla immediately recognized as her own handiwork. She felt very excited to have contributed, even in a small way, to the princess’s royal attire.

A baby skunk was being crowded out by the larger baby forest animals while trying to catch a glimpse of the royal procession. He kept moving between them, trying to see between the legs of the little fawns and also trying not to be stepped on. Arilla saw him skittering about and picked him up. She flew higher up so he could see over the crowds. When she flew higher, she was able to have a better view too. She was surprised to see how similar she looked to the princess who had long dark hair and a round face just like hers. The only difference was their dress and the small but glittery tiara the princess wore.

The royal family was not the only ones wearing crowns. For the special occasion, Arilla had made many ivy crowns for the forest creatures wanting to feel like royalty for the day. The pointy ivy leaves looked like the points of the crowns. The king and queen wore silver crowns with green jewels. The princess wore a simple silver tiara with little emerald gems.

The procession went on with all the forest creatures trying to toss their bouquets of flowers into the carriage and the royal family waving happily and thanking them for welcoming them to their streets. The royal family was very humble and gracious to all the forest creatures who lived within their realm.
