Marquis sat on a bench outside of the Dr. Ronald Campbell Building, trying to figure out what his next move for the day was. It was a chilly spring afternoon, and Marquis was sitting with his girlfriend Vanity, listening to her vent. While he half listened, he tried to decide on if he was going to attend his last class of the afternoon. With all of the action going on around him, it was hard to focus on one thought, let alone make a decision or actually listen to Vanity.
The plaza behind the Campbell Building (the home of his university's Black Studies Center) was 'the' go-to relaxing spot for Black students. The Coleman Building was the one spot on the campus of Wilton State University that was 'theirs'.

Marquis, like many of them came here today to chill and catch up with their friends. He'd come here to attempt to study and people watch in peace, but even with having ignored her texts, Vanity had not only found him, she had managed to disrupt his place to just stare at folks in peace.
"I mean, that's not my problem. If that bitch is in her feelings, then she's in the way and I've never been afraid to drop a bitch from line. I'm just tired of these legacy bitches thinking they're going to walk into my org! You have to WORK to become a woman of Delta Sigma Theta and these new girls are trying to cut corners. Calling our advisor whenever they don't want to do what we tell them...they think they're slick but I'm not with the shit! Not while I'm the Dean of Pledges." Vanity said under her breath, folding her arms.
"Yeah...I bet." Marquis said, continue to share at the crowd around them.
"Really Marquis? You just going to ignore me? Whenever you find yourself complaining about y'all new boys, I listen. You're a shitty listener. What kind of boyfriend are you?" Vanity said, rolling her eyes.
Vanity Daniels
"Vanity, I never bring you into Kappa business because...you're not a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Incorporated. In fact, I NEVER ask you about Delta business because I don't get involved in the affairs of females." Marquis said, not even looking up from his phone.
