Tiffany and I had been friends since my freshman year of college at Chapel Hill State University. We'd been close since our first encounter. We both served on our campus's NAACP Board together and throughout the years, we'd remained good friends. I'd supported her when she pledged Sigma Gamma Rho our sophomore year, and she held me down when I pledged Iota Phi Theta the next semester.

Though we both made a ton of friends, we remained tight through undergrad and it continued afterwards, when we both moved to Atlanta for jobs in our respective fields. Naturally, we chose to split an apartment.

Living with Tiffany was challenging, to say the least. Tiffany had received a degree in Accounting, but she wasn't focused on using it for the time being. With the help of one of her sorority sisters, she'd gotten caught up in the party scene and overnight, she became one of the hottest club promoters in the area.

She was plugged in with the college scene, helping fraternities and sororities throw parties at local clubs. I loved my homegirl, but her late night party ways were eventually going to wear on me. Between her coming in late most nights of the week and the random rotation of men coming in and out of our apartment...it was a lot to manage.

Unfortunately, my life wasn't that simple. I was working as an Entry Level Marketing Associate for a Design firm and it kept me pretty busy. I'd received this job as a favor from one of my fraternity brothers and I was determined to make the most of this opportunity. I had to prove it to my boss that I was talented enough to warrant having been hired.

I often worked late nights, with no overtime but hell, pledging had prepared me for this moment - having worked late nights, with no immediate incentive, only the understanding that my hard work would pay off in the long run...it kept me motivated. This job also prevented me from having much of a dating life...which defeated the point of being a young Black Gay man in Atlanta, but whatever.

My schedule rarely lined up with Tiffany's, so whenever it did, we tried to take advantage of it. Once a week, I'd join her and some of her friends at Top Golf. I never actually played gold, but I enjoyed the drinks and it was always great seeing people there.

It may not have been the 'club', but Tiffany and her friends were pretty turned up and although we were out of college, she still partied like a college student...which was evident by her twerking and bending over to touch her toes as after launching her gold ball off of the platform and onto the golf course beneath us.

At one of our Top Golf excursions, Tiffany threw me for a loop when she actually invited a guy that she was talking to.

"I got our golf clubs!" I said as I brought them to the table that we'd reserved.

"I don't know why you're shouting, you never try to win." Tiffany said, laughing.

I shrugged her off, although she was right.
