The Winged Guardian

THE PRECINCT

"Man, I really wish Lucifer was here." Ella mumbled, fidgeting with the computer.

"That's one day I don't have to hear Detective Douche!" Dan chuckled, imitating his best Lucifer accent before awkwardly stopping.

"So, Ella what we got?" Chloe eagerly queried, trying to ignore Ella and Dan's remarks.

"Well, security cam footage tells us that our guy  was indeed attacked." Dan mentioned.

"Looks like a mugging too." Chloe pointed out.

Chloe, Ella and Dan further watched the footage, before stopping at a frame.

"Ella, can you magnify on that?" Chloe asked, pointing at a shiny, white object on a man's back.

Ella nodded. She tapped a few keys on the keyboard as the frame magnified.

"Are those... Um- Wings?" Dan questioned.

"Huh, well let's go ask the victim." Chloe said, before leaving the room.

As Dan was on his way out, he noticed that Ella was still sitting at her desk.

"Ella, you coming?"

"Ahhhh, no. It ain't really my thing." Ella begin, speaking rather slowly and awkwardly. "You know, I have to go do my job... And hug random people, cause that's just what I do..."

"Ok..." Dan chuckled, "Well, Chloe's waiting."

Ella smiled. As Dan walked out the door, her smile faded and she quickly put her earphones in, blasting pop music as loud as she could.

She needed to block out the voices.

THE INTERROGATION ROOM

"So, did you see the person who attacked you?" Chloe asked the man.

"Uh- No. It was too dark." He stammered.

"Alright, what about your 'winged guardian', did you see him too?" Chloe never thought she would ever say that sentence.

"Barely. I mean it was dark, but he was tall! Like quite tall... Maybe 6'2, 6'3? Oh! And he was wearing a suit."

Chloe faltered. The description the man gave sounded an awfully lot like Lucifer.

Dan noticed Chloe's concerns. "So according to footage, your 'guardian' killed your attacker."

The man nodded shakily, his breath trembling.

"It was so scary man... He kept saying how he had to punish the evil... How he was the devil!"

The next statement, made Chloe extremely nervous.

Could Lucifer have killed a man?

Without further words, she stormed out the interrogation room, panicking on what to do next.

"Uh- Thank you for your time sir." Dan smiled before rushing out to follow Chloe.

Chloe sat at her desk, frustrated. "Ugh Dan... What do we do? I don't wanna bring in my partner."

Dan nodded sympathetically. "Well we're gonna have to... And Lucifer may not even be our guy!"

Chloe looked doubtful. "Do you know anyone else who punishes people, claiming to be the Devil? Besides he has wings for cosplay or something..."

Dan started quietly laughing at the words cosplay, before composing himself once more.

"Alright. Well, I'm gonna go to Lux then and talk to Lucifer. Convince him to come in and take a statement." He informed. "You coming?"

"I wish I could... I have this dinner - Date thing with Pierce. I gotta go..." Chloe hesitantly stuttered.

"Well okay... Have fun! I'll tell Lucifer that you're busy and couldn't come."

Chloe walked away. She felt a wave of regret and guilt wash over her. She promised Lucifer that Pierce would never get in the way of their relationship.

'I deserve to be happy.' She thought to herself.
