LUCIFER'S PENTHOUSE

Lucifer sat by his piano, drinking a glass of bourbon and mumbling to himself. When at once his deep thoughts and self pity were interrupted by the elevator opening up.

"Listen Brittany's, I'm not in the mood tod-"

"Hello Lucifer." It was Maze, in her usual leather outfit, wielding a blade.

Lucifer stood up and placed his glass on the side, looking as if he saw a ghost.

"Mazikeen." He uttered, smiling weakly.

His tender voice surprised Maze, she could tell that he was being sincere.

"Well Lucifer, I just came to tell you that I saw Cain and Chloe get 'extra friendly'... Especially with their lips." Maze smirked mockingly.

"Ah well... I guess I had that coming." Lucifer shrugged it off, but deep inside he was holding back tears.

"Yeah and you know what the worst part is...?" She snickered, starting to walk towards him - Trying to provoke him. "He doesn't actually love her, he's simply just using her."

Lucifer's eyes flashed with a hint of rage, as Maze spoke those words. He clenched his fists.

"But hey, as least she loves him... And not you!" She continued, raising her eyebrows. "She never has."

Lucifer snapped. He grabbed Maze and thrusted her towards the wall. Leaving cracked Assyrian bricks in his wake. He angrily ambled towards her displaying his majestic wings.

Maze smiled cockily, she always loved a good fight. She threw her fists towards him, kicking and throwing demon daggers all over the place.

To her surprise, Lucifer blocked all of her attacks with ease. He grabbed her neck viciously, pushing her against the wall.

"You shall not speak to me that way again..." Lucifer roared. "Do you understand!"

For the first time, Maze felt a shiver down her spine. She was afraid. And she could have sworn - When she looked in Lucifer's eyes, she saw a flicker of red.

No. More than a flicker. They were red.

Blood red.

"O- Ok! I understand." She relented.

Lucifer loosened his grasp, causing Maze to drop to the floor. Seething, Lucifer picked up the now empty glass and threw it violently towards the wall.

"Leave." He mumbled. "LEAVE."

Maze hurriedly scrambled out, this was the first time - For a very long time, that she saw Lucifer behave like this... Like the Devil.

Lucifer sat back down on his piano, his hands covering his face in shame.

Had he scared her off for good?

But then, Lucifer knew he should have felt some sort of remorse, instead another emotion coursed through his veins.

Delight.

Still, he felt a sense of truth in Maze's words. He had to find out if Cain was really using the Detective... He had to.

And so, without further delay, he grabbed his corvette car keys and made his way downstairs.

His destination...?

Cain's apartment.
