"Look Anna!" Kessley cooed to her fellow wolf companion. "New hair dye!" Kess raised up different coloured hair dyes.

The female wolf looked lazily up at Kess, then ploped her head back down onto the soft warm grass, underneath their favourite tree.

"Why are you so tired lately?" Kess asked her softly. She looked into the wolfs eyes, then her face lit up. "No!" She said happily. She looked down and rubbed the wolfs stomach. "Im going to be an auntie!" Kess giggled. "Tonight, Ill hunt you some extra rabbit. Dont sweat it. You have a litter to feed." Kess stroked her  back softly.

Kessleys hair was softly curled with bangs, set at a deep warm brown colour. Her eyes were a lovely brown, but she never understood why whenever she was emotional her eyes flickered to a completely different colour.

It confused her to many levels why she was so different. Normal 19 year old girls would be working a job at the mall or in college. Not Kess.

Kessley Crown was abused since she was a small toddler. Abandoned at age 6 by her father, Kessleys mother was left to take care of her.

However, that did not work.

Kessleys mother was an irresponsible drunk and drug addict. Night after night, she left Kessley alone in the house while she went out drinking or sleeping with her drug dealers for free marijuana and cocaine. Kessley, at such a young age, did not fully understand the position or danger she was in.

It was sickening the way men looked at her like they wanted to devour her every time they came to her house. Kessley had no time to be a child. She was forced to grow up quickly at the age of seven to provide and care for her mother.

Her mother had no job. There was a point where the goverment refused to pay for her unemployment so they had to live on the streets. Kessley was forced to steal and hunt to survive and provide for her mother. At age ten, Kessley had enough. She would stay up crying every night because her mother did not want her anymore. She admitted the only reason she still had her around was because she provided her with food. She never seeked her daughters love and warmth. She simply wanted a breadwinner.

 Kessley had enough.

Away she ran. She wasnt completely sure where she was going, or where she would stay, but she knew she wasnt wanted and had to leave.

No one stopped her. Her mother did not try to search for her. She did not remember her father. She did not have any other family besides her mother. Until the next night.

Straggling, crying, tired and hungry, Kess crawled into a dark place of a forest she found underneath a tree. She felt like she was going to die. She felt alone,

unwanted.

She wanted to stay underneath this tree and decade away, her ashes blowing in the air of the forest, her body molding and rotting into the warm wet earth.

Alone and unwanted, the forgotten child.

Just when she thought death was approaching her, she fell fast asleep. She awoke to the smell of meat.

Not cooked meat, but something dead and ripped apart. She parted her eyes.

A lone wolf sat in front of her, its head cocked awkardly to the side, staring at her. Kessleys breath caught in her throat. She wanted to scream.

"I will die for sure" Kessley thought. This wolf was alone and hungry, and what she knew from books she found about wolfs in the library trashcan once, they will eat humans if they have too.

Kessley teared up. "Im going to be eaten by a wolf, and no one will suspect a thing or even care."

The wolf just stared at her.

"Well?"

Arent you going to devour me now?" Kessley asked politely.

The wolf cocked its head once again at Kess, and its right ear twitched.

Kess stared akwardly up at the wolf. "Arent you hungry?"

The wolf sneezed.

Kess was confused. Her stomach rumbled, and she gripped her stomach. "Ugh." She sighed.

The wolf happily whipped its tail up and down. It grabbed a dead blooded rabbit from the ground and plopped it onto her stomach.

"Oh, joy." Kess said, grossed out. She shivered. "Cant really eat this uncooked."

The wolf looked at her with interest. As if saying, "Why arent you eating it? Im trying to share."

Kess cautiously reached her hand out to pet its head. She took notice it was a girl.

She winced and her ears softly went down, but she allowed Kess to pet her.

She was a gentle, beautiful creature. Soft crystal blue eyes with white and gray fur.

"Will you be my sister?" Kess suddenly asked. She didnt know, it felt right asking.

As if a response, she pounced onto Kess and licked her face happily.

Kess laughed, delighted. "Oh good!"

She hugged the wolf tightly and the wolf flapped its tail in agreement.

"I think ill call you Anna." Kess decided.

Anna bit the hem of Kessleys shirt and tugged her behind the tree.

"Anna, what are you doing?" Kess asked surprisingly. Anna tugged her more. Kessley got up, and Anna expected her to follow when she went off walking. Kessley followed close behind her. They ended up circling the tree they were under, "What on earth are you doing?" She giggled.

Anna wagged her tail, and finally stopped circling. She stopped and sniffed a certain part of the tree. With that, she started clawing furiously at the earth, mud and grass flying.

"Anna?" Kess looked attentively at what Anna was doing.

She kept pawing, and Kess was surprised when she saw a wooden door with a metal latch. Anna bit the latch and pulled the door open, revealing a long concrete stairway down, underneath the big tree. Kess gasped.

Anna led her down into the dark area, and when they reached the bottom she was revealed to a large pack of wolves. Dozens of them. The wolves surrounded her, growling and snarling.

"Anna?" Kessley cried. Tears stained her cheeks. Once again, she felt betrayed.

Some wolves snapped at her when she backed away towards the exit.

Anna growled and barked at all of them, as if scolding each and every one of them.

One of the biggest wolves she saw stepped up and snarled deepily at her, then Anna. Anna did not back down.

She growled and barked loudly in the wolfs face, and it eventually yipped and walked away shamefully.

Anna seemed to control the whole pack, as if she was the mother. The wolves obeyed, of course, and went back to napping or playing with other wolfs.

The bigger wolf came back, however, as if to apoligize. It sniffed her carefully, then licked her hand. Kess saw he was a boy.

"I think Ill name you trouble, because you seem like youd get into it a lot." Kess giggled. Trouble seemed to like this, and nuzzled Kess's  side. Kess smiled and pet Troubles head. Anna came back over, and tugged on her white shirt again. She wanted to show Kess around.

It sounds cliche, but yes, Kessley Crown was raised by wolves. They raised her like a daughter, and she eventually became their leader. So here she was, underneath their tree with her darling Anna.

And this was how it stayed for a while.
