Kessley ran as fast as she could. Police sirens going crazy behind her. She was so out of breath.. She wanted to sop running. However, she could not, She had to continue to push herself. Continue to run.
Today she had finished stealing new hair dyes, fresh meat, and a device people called a "radio."
She herd it played,"Music." Shes herd music before, but it was a type called "rapping" and it sounded absolutely terrible to her.
She herd there was different genres, however, so she wanted to give music a second chance.
Today she was very distracted while she was stealing. She couldnt get her mind off of that kid Zach. He seemed sort of different than the kids she saw most of the time.
Most of the kids she saw wore high tops and baggy pants and listened to rap music. She wasnt sure if he listened to rap music too, but she knew he looked like the complete opposite of the kids she usually saw. He had this nice white skin and long dark hair... and he wore skinnyjeans, like her. She liked that.
He also wasnt wearing hightops. He had on shoes that were called converse. She saw them in a magazine once. They looked cool.
"I think Ill steal them sometime." She thought to herself.
Her mind suddenly flashed back to the present as she herd the police sirens get closer. She launched into the woods and climbed a tree.
She was up there for quite a while. The police ended up searching the entire wood, taking up hours of her time. She ended up falling asleep.
She awoke to the sound of policemen talking below her. Alarmed, she sat still and scootched to the right a bit, out of the polices sights.
One was tall and white, with a scruffy beard.
"Everyones starting to leave. Im going to go now, too. Call off the search, we lost her... again." He huffed.
The tall black man beside him nodded. "Ill drive. Lets get some coffee."
She waited a bit, and they all eventually left. She let out a sigh of relief.
Climbing down, she reminded herself to get some fruit later.
As she was approaching the den, she herd loud vicious yelps and howls.
It sounded like the pack was furious.
"Uh oh." She breathed. That ment someone was there. Someone found their den. That was a death sentence. What a fool.
She ran at full speed into the den and threw open the door. She gasped.
"Zach!" Kess screetched.
Zach had his arms raised, his eyes in a panic as he stood completely still with her family of wolves surrounding him. "I-Im sorry!"
Kess whistled violently. The wolves looked up at her and back at Zach. They couldnt decide whether not to kill him.
"Saka! Bones! Trouble!" She yelled to the three largest male wolves of the pack. They looked at her and at eachother. They knew they had to obey. They went to her.
The rest of the pack saw that their leaders were obeying, and followed and decided to obey aswell.
"Good dogs." Kess sighed. She was surprised he wasnt already ripped to shreds.
Kess was furious. She grabbed Zach by his shirt and pressed him against the wall. "What are you doing here?!" She screamed. "I told you to leave! You couldve died!"
Zach chuckled. "So youd care if I died?"
Kessley grimaced and let go of Zach, making him fall to the ground. He groaned as his bottom hit the concrete. "So your hair is brown now?" He asked, getting up.
Kessley scoffed. "Dont change the conversation. What are you DOING here?"
Zach sighed as he wiped off the dirt on his black skinnyjeans. "Look, I wanted to see you again."
"I told you you couldnt."
"Why not?"
"Im dangerous."
"I can handle that, Skull Face."
"No. You cant."
Zach laughed.
"This sint a joke, you twit." Kess looked at him with pain in her eyes. "Now you have no choice but to stay here."
"Why the hell do I have to stay here?" He asked, noticing the hurt on her face.
"Rather we keep you since you saw our hideout, or you die and youre my family's dinner. Your choice."
"Thats crazy!" He said, unbelievably.
"Were all crazy here, darling." Kess stated, lifting her chin a bit. "Ill do what it takes to protect my family and home."
Zach plopped down onto the ground and crossed his legs. "Alright."
Kess looked him in the eyes. "Alright?" She raised her eyebrows. "You arent going to try to escape, or refuse to stay here or cry or something?" Kess asked.
"No. I have foster parents who beat my foster sister and themselves. Id rather live with wolves and a pretty rebel girl" He smiled.
"This isnt a joke." Kess pouted.
"Im not laughing." Zach replyed matter-of-factly.
Kess straightened herself up and scoffed. "I dont like you."
"Kay, then were off to a good start." Zach said.
Kess crossed her arms. "Youre not aloud out of the den unless I say."
"Okay."
"The wolves will eat you if you try to leave."
"Okay."
"I mean it."
"I know."
Kess rolled her eyes.
She walked out of the den to get her things and slammed the wooden door.
"I knew he was trouble." She hissed.
