"Did you pack everything you need?" He asked, closing the front door.
After a lengthy discussion, Beth had agreed to leave; unhappy of course. I wouldn't blame her, but if she knew what was going on, she would probably leave in a heartbeat.
"Yeah," I zipped up my bag "where are we going?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Ethan, you've always responded with that!" I furrowed my brows "why can't you tell me where we're going?"
"Why do you want to know so badly?" I could hear his voice slightly raise.
"I'm sorry! It's not my fault I want to know where a psycho murderer is taking me!" I immediately covered my mouth after saying that.
I never called him a psycho murderer before, not to his face at least. I could tell he was a bit hurt due to how he took a step back, as if he got punched in the chest.
"I'm sor-"
"Save it." He walked past me, his shoulder bumping into mine "let's go."
Great. I broke him.

We'd been driving for 2 hours, and he still wouldn't talk to me. There were times where I wanted to just talk to him like nothing happened, but I figured he'd probably just ignore me. I looked over at him. His jaw was clenched, and his knuckles were white due to the pressure he was adding onto the steering wheel."Are you still mad..?" I asked quietly.
He simply just let out a huff in response. I figured he'd be acting this way for the whole ride, so I decided to just stick my headphones in, and listen to music.
Ethan's POV
I didn't want to be mad at her. It hurt not talking to her, but what she said hurt me even more. It's not like I chose this lifestyle, it just..came to me. Of course, when it came I was a clueless teen, and I didn't know how to deny it. I quickly looked over at her, and she was asleep. I pulled over, and put my sweater over her; to keep her warm. She shifted in her seat, and smiled a bit.
That damn smile. I thought to myself.
I continued to drive until we finally arrived. I sighed at the sight in front of me. The long, stone driveway, the tall, brick mansion, bushes and trees surrounding it. It all brought back horrible memories. Fights, neglect, and the worse decision I could have made in my life.
I shook Madeline, and her eyes slowly opened. She looked a bit confused at first, but her mouth slowly curved into a tiny smile. I didn't even notice that I was smiling back.
"We're here." I unbuckled my seatbelt.
"This house is beautiful..." she gasped.
"Come on, let's go." I opened the driver's door, and got out.
The chilly air hit my face, causing goosebumps to form on my arm. We walked in silence as we arrived at the front door. I knocked hesitantly, and watched as the door slowly opened.
"Ethan..?"
There she was. Still beautiful as ever. Tears slowly formed in my eyes as all of the memories came flowing back into my mind.
I hurt this woman, I caused her so many issues, all because I was an attention seeking asshole. I felt so much guilt showing up at her door, I wanted to just turn around and run.
But I made that mistake once, and I couldn't repeat it again...
