The next morning, my sleep is so rudely interrupted by my dad gently shaking me awake, I move my hair from my face and rub my eyes as I blink up at him.
"C'mon Arabelle, we'll be late to the airport." I groan slightly, pulling the covers over my head.
"Dad, why don't you just go by yourself today? It'll be nice for the two of you to bond." I mumble into my pillow, hoping I can get out of seeing my sister today and stay in bed a little longer.
"Ara come on, you haven't seen your sister in how long?" He asks placing his hands on his hips, raising a brow, and I turn slightly to look fully at him.
"Long enough she must've forgotten how to dial our phone number.." I deadpan, not caring if it seemed harsh, because it's true and frankly I'm tired of people making excuses for the behavior of my sister and mother.
"You're really going to hold onto that? Ara, it's been years—"
"Exactly Dad. It's been years, and only suddenly are we good enough for her to come and live with us?" He sighs and rakes a nervous hand through his hair, and I fully sit up.
"I'm not going to have this conversation when I'm already running late. Fine, you can stay here, but we will be having dinner at the diner tonight, so don't be late."
"Alright, Alright. I wouldn't miss it for the world." I say with a sarcastic smile, making him roll his eyes , but still smiles back.
"Sometimes, you're too sarcastic for your own good. Remember Arabelle, the diner! Our normal time for dinner!" He shouts as he leaves my room and I flop back into the bed and bury back into my blankets.

After I finally got up and around, I ended up heading down to La Push and thought I'd visit the boys. I get myself dressed in relaxed jeans and an oversized sweater, I head out to my car. Heading to Sam's house, since that's the usual hang out for the boys, and I'm met by a bunch of long haired boys throwing the football around.
"Ara!"
"Hey Ara!"
I wave, giggling at the choruses of hello, before I have to catch the football being chucked at my face. I simply glare at Jared before chucking it back and head inside to find Emily.
"Hey Em." I say as I make my way into the kitchen, snagging a muffin off the tray.
"Hi Ara. You're as bad as the boys, you know that?" I smile at her as I take a big bite of the blueberry muffin, loving the warm flavor explosion over my tongue.
"I do. But that's why you love me Em." She laughs shaking her head, before wiping her hands on her apron, the flour residue leaving a mark.
"Would mind pulling the other batch from the oven? I have to run to the bathroom."
I simply wave her off, finishing my muffin before the timer goes off, and I reach for an oven mitt, only to drop it. As I reach out a hand to try and grab it, for a moment it freezes midair, making my blood run cold. My powers haven't acted up in years...
Over the years, after I turned 14, I had noticed strange things starting to happen to me. I was able to control elements, freeze the water in my glasses, light a candle wick, and levitate the smaller things around me. After doing research and talking with the elders on the Rez in secret, it turns out I'm an Elemental Witch. Something the Quiliutes have only heard about in their oldest legends..there hasn't been one in centuries, and I'm the first outsider to gain these powers, and no one can explain how I got them.
I quickly grab the mitt, hoping the boys hadn't seen it when they suddenly rush in, grabbing muffins before suggesting a lazy day with movies, which I agree to. I sit in between Jared and Paul, but I'm not fully focusing on the movie they chose, wondering why my powers suddenly started acting up again.

"Where are you?" I cringe as I hear my father's disappointed voice flood through the speaker of my cell phone.
"I'm on my way. I'm sorry Dad, I lost track of time." I say getting into my car, buckling in and waving bye to the boys.
"I told you we were doing our regular time Arabelle."
"I know Dad. And I just..wasn't paying attention. I'm sorry, I'll see you soon."
I say hanging up the phone and soon dread replaces my panic and I no longer want to meet them for dinner...I haven't seen my sister in about six or so years, and I know my anger will get the best of me. Dad's already disappointed that I don't want to see her, and that's the worst feeling. Having Charlie Swan disappointed in you.
I pull up to the diner and with one final deep breath, I get out of my car and head inside. Saying hi to Angie, I make my way to a different table from our usual, seeing my father sitting with a girl with dull brown hair, her back facing me.
"Oh good, you made it." Dad says sending me a smile, and Isabella turns to look at me, her eyes widening slightly as I sit in the open chair between her and Dad.
"Yeah, I'm sorry again for being late. Did you order yet?" I ask Dad, purposely ignoring the girl staring at the side of my head.
"Yes, I ordered your usual for you." I thank him, taking a drink of my sweet tea before he gives a pointed look, and I have to restrain rolling my eyes.
"Bella you remember your sister don't you?" Charlie asks and I muster up my best looking fake smile, finally taking in my sister's full looks.
"Yeah, ha. Long time no see Arabelle." She says shyly and I realize this is going to be harder than I thought...
"You too Isabella. Nice flight in?" I see her cringe at her full name and I have to suppress a smile.
"Um yeah. Not too bad. And it's Bella, please." I'm saved from having to respond as Angie brings us our food, and we begin to eat.
"So Bella will be starting school with you this week Ara. You don't mind showing her around right?" My Dad smiles, and I know he's trying but all I wanna do is glare at the thought.
"No, of course not. It'll be...nice." I fake another smile and we continue to eat.
Well, this will surely be an interesting year...
