The guards threw Keith down onto the ground (British accent) with the utmost care. Keith sat up to see a frowning Prince Lotor in the kings throne.
"We have brought him as ordered, my lord."
The first guard said in a formal voice. Prince Lotor smiled, walking around Keith in circles eyeing him. It was beginning to make Keith sick with the glint in Lotor's eye. Just before Keith could say anything the King and Queen came in casually, only to see Prince Lotor's face a inch away from mine. They stared for a moment and then recognized me. The Queen and King sat down on their thrones, waiting for Lotor to join them. He slowly did, almost like he was making sure Keith didn't run away.
"Ah! You must be Keith! You have been summoned here because we have decided to pick you for the joining of the Altean and Galran empire. We thank you for allowing this decision."
The Queen said it like he hadn't been forced here against his will. Keith was shocked for a moment, until he finally said
"Queen Haggar, I am sorry but I must decline your offer. I do not want to marry a stranger from another kingdom. I thank you for the offer."
The Prince only snickered, which made Keith's eyes move to him immediately, but he said nothing.
"I am sorry Keith,"
The King began,
"But we cannot allow you to say no to this offer. We have decided on you and only you because you were the best pick, you are kind, smart, a little fiesty, have great hair, and have great complexion. You are even better then Prince Lotor!"
That sentence made the Prince look away with disgust, which also made Keith smirk.
"So you are not allowed a choice, I'm afraid that you will go to Altea by your own volition or by force, but you will go."
The King glared down at Keith, daring him to say no to the royal family. Keith took a deep breath and nodded his head. Keith, no matter how rebellious or angry he might be, Keith knew when he was beaten.
The guards escorted Keith out of the palace room and placed him, now very gently, into a huge room.
It had red sheets, red carpet, red curtains, a red couch, a red ceiling, and red cookies on a red plate on a red night stand.
Geez, these people really like the color red!
Keith thought, looking more thoroughly at the cookies. A few days had passed before he got any interaction with anyone besides the servants, who were instructed not to talk to Keith.
Finally, a man came into Keith's room and asked Keith to follow him. Keith obviously did, knowing there was no use in refusing, and followed the man into the stables. There he gave Keith a black/red horse named (naturally) Red and led him to the other guards waiting to escort Keith to Altea. Keith grumbled something about how unfair this was and regrettably got onto the horse. They were about to leave until a man on a black horse came riding up. He gave the leader a letter and he nodded, allowing the man to ride up nest to Keith.
The man gave Keith a sheepish smile that he knew all too well.
"Shiro?"
Keith whispered, unsure if it was actually him.
"I was able to become a personal guard for you after a heard what happened. So I get to leave the Galran empire and not get married."
Shiro whispered smugly, smirking at Keith.
They talked quietly to each other while on their way to the Altean castle, telling each other what had happened over the past few days.
After a few hours, they reached the central city of Altea. Butterflies fluttered around in Keith's stomach, making shivers go up Keith's spine. Shiro noticed Keith's uncomfortableness and said
"It's okay, I bet whoever you're going to marry will be as good as you are.
Shiro smiled warmly for a few ticks and then settled his gaze upon the towering city gates before them. A guard knocked three times in a special pattern and the doors slowly opened. The guards continued forward into the city. Calmly walking through the streets in horseback, not looking at a single Altean as they passed by.
This is really weird. Keith thought, looking through the streets.
