My eyes wondered up to the plain ceiling; the house was pretty old with a beach finish, which added to the holiday feel. There were shells and rustic little ornaments plastered all over the place. It was small and sweet just the way I imagined it would be.
Last night I slept with only sheets, it’s like a furnace upstairs at night. I rolled onto my side and glanced at the clock, it’s 7 am. Gee I’ve been getting up early lately; it’s not like me. I wondered into my older brother’s room just a door away, he was still asleep as I suspected. Jay is sixteen, just two years older than me. Surprisingly we get along really well; sometimes he’s a pain in the neck. But I love him. This holiday is like a break for him from all the pressure he’s been under lately with school, exams and assignments.
I continued on down the soft-carpeted stairs and into strolled into the kitchen. I opened about four cupboard doors before I discovered the coco pops. My all time favourite! I pored a generous amount of milk into my bowl then went out onto the balcony to enjoy them.
Sunrays filtered through the trees creating patterns on the deck and across the railing of the balcony. Yet again not a cloud in the sky, a light breeze and the sound of crashing waves in the distance.
I placed my bowl in the dishwasher and slipped on a pair of shorts and a singlet top with my bright blue bikini on underneath. Quickly I perched a pair on sunnies on my head and weaved a loose braid in my hair, after grabbing a pink pen and scribbling a note on the back of a receipt leaving it on the counter.
I will be home before 12:00,
Gone for a walk on the beach again.
Summer xx
The walk to the beach was short mostly hidden by trees with sand filling the gaps under the stones. I went bare foot with a bag perched over my right shoulder containing my towel, art supplies, wallet and flip-flops.
The sand was so hot as I sprinted down the beach, high knees hoping to not burn my feet. I finally reached the cool sand, laid out my towel and flopped straight down on it.
"Phew" I sighed in relief still our of breath
" You should do high knees more often, it makes you look..... Hilarious!" Tai laughed.
I looked up and around frantically remembering yesterday. I completely forgot I was going to see him here today. Then I saw him standing in the waves. He was in his black boardies and was standing there with a cheeky smile. I thought I would never see him again but I guess fait did.
