Ace, The Mission

You know, I'm not usually a demon to be called for overworld missions. Let alone one from the big guy himself. However, my buddy Dez totally is. I mostly spend time alone while Dez just trots around on the greens. He's already got a human form picked out, and he's perfected his backstory and can tell humans his 'past' and not trip up on a single lie.

In my spare time, if I'm not poking at some lost soul with a trident, I do like to think about what my human form would look like. Probably slobbish and disheveled, since my domain was under Belphegor, or sloth. Dez' domain is actually under Satan, wrath. He was a nice guy, actually. He just has a tendency to shoot down planes and ships in his very own fighter jet. And that's totally understandable. If I had a jet with attached machine guns, I'd do the same.

By the way, when I said the big guy called us for a mission, I didn't mean Belphegor or Satan. I meant the big, big guy. The one and only Devil. Even Dez was in shock.

He called us to his domain, and me and Dez got there as fast as our leathery wings could carry us. Of course, I lagged behind, but I honestly couldn't help it. Dez grabbed me by the wrist and beat his wings against the air so hard it blew ash into my face. If he hadn't dragged me along it would've taken much longer to arrive.

We landed at the foot of his throne, and knelt. He tapped the bottom of his massive trident on the rocky ground. And, he spoke with a huge booming voice that scared the shit out of the both of us.

"You arrived sooner than expected. I allotted for plenty of time to reach here. I understand Ace is under Belphegor."

As he talked, you could see the inside of his mouth. Multiple rows of jagged fangs lined it. He also, for some reason, seemed to have a habit of pausing dramatically to lick his lips. When he first spoke, Dez and I flinched. It was a deep and loud voice, very intimidating.

Dez replied in a shaky and nervous voice. "Y-yes Dark Prince, we traveled as quickly as we could..."

The Devil nodded. He motioned upward, and me and Dez both rose to our feet.

"As you may recall," he began, "I have assigned the both of you a very important quest."

As he explained the details, we listened closely and carefully.

"I've received news of two angels recently expelled from Heaven. Their names are Ciel and Beau, and they fell because they committed sins of your specialty. Beau is guilty of wrath, and Ciel was accused of sloth. I want the two of you to lure them in and bring them back here. We will convert them to demons when they arrive. This mission will take an extensive amount of time and effort."

Woah, hold up. Retrieving angels is a huge job.

"With all due respect, my Lord, why didn't you assign our superiors to this job?" I asked. Dez gave me a look.

"They will easily recognize a demon of that authority. You have not done any missions and you will be unrecognizable. Dez is quite adjusted to overworld missions. He will help you out. Now, you do need a human form, correct? Come, we'll help you get that sorted out." He spoke with a wide grin.

I was excited.
