"Okay. Bye, mom," I said waving my hand. She turned to me again, a concerned look on her face. I sighed, I knew it would be hard trying to get her to trust me to be alone. I mean I am 17; I guess it partially had to do with the fact that she's never had to go away for more than 24 hours and this time she was going away for 72 hours.
"I-I.. How about I ask if Colin can check up on you." My face immediately heated up; there was once where I was dancing half naked and I didn't realize that the curtains were open; long story short I was caught red-handed. The worst part is that he is actually super good looking, and I can't help but stare sometimes. Can you blame me? I'm a hormonal virgin teenager.
"No, mom.." I hurriedly spoke. My hands shaking back forth; my mom just huffed in annoyance and whipped out her phone; blatantly ignoring my pleas she dialed Colin, I'm assuming. My mom walked away and I heard faint chatter on the other hand, by how deep the voice as I'm assuming it's Colin.
I whimpered to myself as I plopped onto the couch, I reached over and grabbed the bag of chips. I didn't understand why I needed my neighbor come over to babysit me; I wasn't a bad kid, I really wasn't. To the kids at school I was just the bubbly nerd, didn't look like one apparently. How does one look like a nerd anyway, with glasses, bad clothing, bad acne? What if one just has bad vision, that's definitely not nerd worthy if you fail your vision test; and what if one just likes the clothes no one else does. Acne, I wasn't sure how to explain, but I had bad acne when I was junior high, it actually started in the fifth grade; it was horrible throughout junior high, but once I hit high school it seemed to have cleared up quickly.
"He said he would watch you for the weekend," My mom cheerfully announced. I groaned inwardly, this was going to be both interesting and awkward. I was not prepared. My mom sighed in defeat as she took a seat beside where I sat. "I'm sorry, I trust you, Cassie, it's just... I don't trust our town per say," She admitted.
"I understand. I guess it's just, I mean, mom I'm 17, not 10." I lowered my gaze afraid of what she might say. I knew I was the only living child from my mom, and I also know that my no good father left because of me. My mom did everything she could to make me feel loved, but honestly, I did wish I had a dad that cared.
The knock on the door had our eyes glancing to the front door. My mom stood up and pulled me up with her; I pouted like a little child in defiance of having a babysitter. My mom glared at me, "Fix it, or I'll fix it for you." I immediately dropped the pout and put on a fake smile.
We walked over to the door and the door slammed opened; all stood 6'5 glory of Colin Rexton. My good looking, panty dropping neighbour; his dark brown hair disheveled and a few hairs lay right below his right eyebrow. His green eyes held a mischief look; and his full kissable lips up in a smirk. Colin wore some dark jeans with a white t-shirt and a flannel shirt over it, the sleeves rolled up to his forearm openly showing the veins surfacing on his arms. I quickly met his eyes and he raised his eyebrow.
Caught. Again. Red-handed.
"Well, hello ladies," His deep husky voice sending shivers up my spine. My mom stretched out her hand and shook his hand.
"Thank you so much, Colin, but I must be off now, I'm already late." My mom turned towards me and gave me a gentle kiss on the forehead, and without a second thought walked out of the house. The door slammed shut right behind her, Colin turned to me and a part of his tattoo slightly showing from a part of his collarbone. Unluckily for me, I have never seen him shirtless, nor even up this close.
