The summer promise

Chapter 5

As soon as I had packed my things, I headed downstairs to tell Xavier I was ready.

When I get downstairs I go and find Xavier watching t.v.

"Are you ready?" He said looking at me smiling.

"Sure am!" I said excitedly. Then we head out and get in Xavier's brand new, dodge challenger.

He had saved some money, and for his 18th birthday his grandparents had supllied the rest of the money. He was so proud of that car. It was his baby. We get in the car, and we are on our way to the bach.

I turn the radio on as soon as we left the driveway. My favorite song was playing. I just had tosing along.

I look over at Xavier, he is singing too. I then took a moment to take in the real beauty of the moment.

The real beauty of Xavier and the real beauty of life. But then I remember it shouldn't be like this.

Harmony should be here too. I turn the radio down. Xavier looks at me confused.

"Don't you like this song? Is it this station? You can change it if you want."

"It's not the song, or the radio. It's just, I feel awful. Harmony should be with us. I mean, I hurt her so bad, emotionally. I don't think she'll ever forgive me. Did she say anything to you?" I just look at him after I say it.

"Look, Daisy, don't feel bad. I told you, she doesn't stay mad for long. She will forgive you. And no, she didn't say anything to me. She won't even speak to me, but I'm not worried about it." He takes my hand and squeezes it tight. "I love you, Ms. Daisy, baby." He kisses my hand.

"I love you too, Xavier..." I smiled, a small smile. It was barely a smile at, all in fact.
