I sat at the desk watching Peep pace around the room. It wasn't even 6am yet, but my alarm had woke us both up. He was in a grey muscle tee and boxers making it easy to tell what muscles he was stretching as he walked. He was deep in concentration and I just watched him. I'm pretty sure he didn't even notice me staring at him.
"We're rearranging this shit," he proclaimed, coming to a dead stop in the middle of the room.
"Is that why you were pacing, man?"
He ignored me and left the room quite quickly. I scoffed and got up, settling myself back on the bed. He came back not to long after with a bag of tools and a drill. I had no idea we even had those at the flat, but apparently we did. He dropped the bag in the middle of the floor making me jump at the sound. He went straight to my bed, throwing off the covers, pushing the matress off the frame and up against the wall. He messed around with the drill for a moment before going to town on the bed frame.
I helped him take it apart, holding stuff up while he undid the bolts. He was really focused the entire time, not wasting a moment.
"Help me carry this stuff out."
I did just that, grabbing what Peep didn't, the bolts and stuff in the pocket of my basketball shorts. He didn't even really need to say anything. We carried the stuff outside, leaving it in the driveway in front of the garage. Peep either didn't notice he was still in his underwear or he just didn't care. For some reason, I found the latter to be more believable.
I followed him back inside and into our room, I'm pretty sure we had woke up Missy from being so loud. I helped him move the dresser across the room. It fit rather snuggly into where the murphy bed went. I suppose he was doing some heavy estimating while pacing earlier. He had cleared a whole two walls, besides the small closet across the way from his bed.
"What now?" I asked, looking at him look at the work we did.
"You know that sectional in the family room no one ever uses?"
"Yeah?"
"Let's go," He said, a smile growing on his face as he turned towards the door. I followed him out, eager to finish this little project of his so I could relax.
Moving the couch was the hardest part of all this. We had to get it out of the family room, through the dinning room, then the kitchen, then the narrow hallway to our room. I watchedPeep pushed the matress from the murphy bed into the hallway before even attempting to get the first half of the couch in the room.
Peep was skinny, kind of lanky even, but he was supprisingly fit. I couldn't help but focus on how his body moved, or chest got real big when lifted his end of the sofa. He was a little sweaty and blonde hair was sticking up everywhere from how he slept.
When we finally got it all settled the room looked pretty good. The couch fit nice in the corner without blocking the closet. There was about a foot of room between the two even. Peep put the quilt and comforter from my bed on the back of the couch and flopped down on it, looking tired and proud.
I shut the door and grabbed my phone before sitting down next to him.
"Doesn't it look better in here?" He asked, looking at his accomplishment.
"Yeah, it does," I looked at the time. It took us nearly two hours to do all that. That wasn't too bad.
I leaned over and kissed his face. He turned to me with a smile, kissing me on the mouth.
