3 months later, Lafayette signs the jobs to the following soldiers. Except Alexander. "Hamilton, a word please." Washington signalled for Alexander to come into his tent. He thought he was in trouble heading towards his office, as he came in seeing Washington calmly at his desk. "Please have a seat." As Alexander takes the chair in front of his desk. "I have a special position for you Hamilton. I have heard quite about you and your skills to write with a quil. I wanted to know if you can be my messager. I'd be honored to have you working beside me and Lafayette." Alexander looks at him confused. "You mean on the battle field?" Washington shakes his head. "Not exactly..." "What do you mean? I didn't make the cut? Please I can work harder I'll do whatever it takes please sir-" Washington held up his hand. "Slow down son." "I'm not your son" Alexander says aggravated jumping out of his seat "Did John tell you? I told him I was perfectly fine-" Washington slams his fist on his desk. "Hamilton! Be quiet and listen to what I have to say. That is an order." Alexander sits back down frustrated. "First of all, Laurens didn't tell me to do anything. Lafayette tells me everything that's been going on during training. Second of all, I wanted you to have this position to further your writing skills. I didn't think that would be such a bad thing to have. I'll give you until tomorrow to think about it. You are dismissed."Alexander pushes the chair back and looks at Washington. "But sir don't you think I would be better if you put me in command?" Washington shook his head. "No, and somebody already filled that spot." Hamilton looks at him confused. "Who could you possib-" "Charles Lee."
John, Hercules and a few other soldiers play a game of poker without the chips but with money. "Get ready to put your money where your mouth is turtle boy." Hercules says looking at John then at his cards. He shakes his head."Why do you keep calling me turtle boy? Is it because I draw turtles?" Herc nods and grins. "Mmmhmm...could you draw me a picture? Maybe of a couple of ladies in a French position naked?" John rolls his eyes and looks down to the floor. "Uh sorry but I'm afraid I'm not that good with drawings. Also I've never really saw a naked woman before." His eyes widen as he gasp. "You've never seen a - You mean you're a virgin?" All the soldiers chuckle. John looks down uncomfortably. "I.." He goes to say something but gets interuppted by a voice at the door. "How dare you moi Mr.Mulligan, French women are to be respected with their bodies and souls. Not for your nasty manly fantasys." Lafayette says standing in the door way walking towards Herc who coward down. "Uh...you're right lieutenant Lafayette. Apologises." Lafayette glances at John who looks uncomfortable at the table. "Listen up gentlemen, all of you do 10 laps around the camp rn. Except for Laurens." John looks up at him. "Come with me lieutenant Laurens." John silently nods walking with Lafayette outside.
"You know mon ami, You aren't like the other soldiers. Sure you're reckless and brave but there's one thing that makes you stand from the rest." John looks at him confused. "What's that?" "You are a very compassionate man. I've seen your writings and drawings. You seem like you are searching for something soulful...but I tell you Laurens. The battle field isn't the place for that. Here you will redefy what bravery is." Lafayette guides the both of them into the gun department. As he hands John a rifle. "Now the question is, do you have what it takes to keep doing it?" John looks down at the gun with a bit of uncertainty, but as he examines further he puts it in his holster and nods. "Yes sir, I am."
Lafayette smiles. "Good, because we're heading off next week." John's eyes widen. "Ne-next week? But we've only been training for like 3 months!" "I know but we're losing a lot of soldiers on the battle front. We need you there Laurens." Lafayette pats him on the shoulder before leaving John alone, speechless but none the less excited that his moment of raising up will be made soon. He goes back to the bunker where he sees Alexander frustratingly write in his journal.
"Alexander you are never going to believe what just happened!" He seats next to Alex as he looks up at him. "What's going on?" "Lafayette just assigned me a job going off to the field! Isn't that great! I do hope your coming along." "Yeah...uh I could, or I can stay here and work with Washington." John looks at him confused. "I thought you wanted to fight?" "Oh I do but he offered me the position because of my writing skills." John looks at him then away. "I mean if that's what you want to do, then go ahead. I can't stop you. You're too damn hard headed anyway. But I say it's not exactly the best upgrade." Alexander nods in agreement, then smiles. "You're right. I've been waiting for this war for a long time. I'm not just about to lose it." John smiles looking at Alex. The soldiers get assigned new positions in mid battle. Out of the fourty two thousand troops, only about half are still alive. As leads the men off into the battle grounds. Alex, John, Lafayette stand together in the crowd of men. John whispers to Alex, "To be honest Alexander, I'm kinda nervous. Is that normal?" Alexander looks up at him and shows a small smile. "Who wouldn't be nervous going off to battle." Alexander sees that he is effected by his own anxiety when he sees his hands start to shake. He quickly takes one of them holding it gentley. "It'll be alright John. I'm going to be right by your side." John looks at him suddenly calming down. Somehow his reassuring words made his fears disappear. They turn their attention back to Washington. "When you get on that battle ground you'll be taking orders from General Lee." Alexander, John, and Lafayette all roll their eyes at the general.
It was sunset time, as the soldiers rode off on horses with their guns. Lafayette and Alexander rode next to each other, finding out that they both have close to the same war tactics. "Wow Sir Lafayette, I never knew we were so alike. I do hope you have further intentions of raising your rank sir." Lafayette chuckles looking at Alexander. "Oh Mon ami Hamilton, we'll see where this war takes us. We can't get too ahead of ourselves. This is the revolutionary war we're talking about. Our chances of surviving this are 30 of 100." Alexander looks down. "It's really that bad isn't it?" Laf nods. "It is indeed. We lead all these men out to the battle fields and only some are actually lucky enough to go home. I want to know more about America when I'm done." Alexander looks at him. "Well if we get done with this. After, I'll show you New York!" Lafayette' s faces lights up. "Re-really? That would be nice Hamilton.i heard New Hampshire is a nice place as well with all the mountains." Their conversation goes on, as Alexander glances at John whose 6 horses behind them. Lafayette noticed this. "Hmm..you seem awfully fascinated with sir Laurens Mr. Hamilton." He says in a playful tone. Alexander chuckles. "What's with you two anyway? You seem inseparable." "We just understand each other more than others do. It's like we were meant to be..." "soulmates?" Lafayette includes. Alexander doesn't continue the topic because he didn't know exactly what he would call his feelings for John.
The soldiers break for water, food and pee break at the near by lake. They now have been traveling for about 5 hours non stop every since they left the base. "Hercules! We do not urinate in the lake!" Lee says yelling behind him angrliy. "Oh...uh Can I just finish up?" All the men drinking from the river quickly spit it out from their mouths caughing. Lafayette, John, and Alexander laugh falling to the ground. "You think this is funny? He could make us and all the people in this colony sick!" Lee says stressing out. Just then they heard something from the woods across from them. Everyone goes silent. "What was that?" Alexander whispers to Lafayette. He places his hand on his holster where his gun is. "They came early..."
