Prompt 3: Use the first line of a nursery rhyme as the first line of a dark narrative.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty dumpty had a great fall. All the king's horses and all the king's men, couldn't put Humpty together again. This old nursery rhyme never said anything about Humpty being an egg as humanity tells of today and I am here to tell you the dark truth of what really happened that day. First, some background information: his name was not even Humpty Dumpty; it was Hunter Dunstock. He was one of the top ten hottest Princes' across the 7 Kingdoms and first born to King Evan IV and Queen Indiana. Every girl in town swooned over him. Hunter has a younger sister named Talia Dunstock and a younger brother named Ivan Dunstock. Oh, and there's this disease spreading around the kingdom called Lanta disease. Now that you have some background information, I think you are ready to hear the true story of Humpty Dumpty.
It all started on a beautiful but depressing summer day. Queen Indiana had just died from the Lanta disease, a disease that causes very high sensitivity to the skin and high fevers that do not go away. The whole kingdom mourned for her loss, but her death hit no one harder than Hunter, Talia and Ivan. Queen Indiana was not only the best queen in the kingdom, but the best mother a child could have. She read stories and would sneak into the kitchen with them for late night cookies and cupcakes. Sadly, this didn't last long and after Queen Indiana's death, things changed rapidly.
King Evan IV secluded himself in his quarters, Princess Talia cut off her engagement, Prince Ivan started sneaking out of the castle every so often to drown his sorrows in alcohol and Prince Hunter became a selfish playboy who could get any girl he wanted. A few weeks passed and the kingdom of Firdale was in total chaos with people protesting and threatening the royal family, killing each other, and there were thieves right and left. Everything was falling apart, and no one was doing anything about this chaos.
One fateful evening, Prince Hunter went to the roof of the castle walls with one of his lady 'friends', Wendy. He barely knew the Wendy but to him, she was gullible and just fell for his looks, which was not true. Wendy was a clever girl who wanted to end the suffering and pain of the kingdom and that started with Hunter. They sat down at the edge of the wall and started to become intimate with each other. Before long, Wendy stared into his dull eyes, got up and shoved him off the castle wall, fleeing the scene. The next day, a shrill scream could be heard throughout the kingdom as a few guards on the morning patrol found poor Prince Hunter Dunstock dead, bleeding from all over. That is the true, gruesome story of Humpty Dumpty.
