Chloe's P.O.V
You know that moment when you feel like time stops and the only thing that matters, is you and that special someone or in this case something, well do you? 'Cause that sure as hell wasn't going on right now. Two words... Flappy Bird. Time seemed to move inconveniently fast, it was like the universe was strongly against me getting a job and mocking me with the knocking out of the annoying bird. I can't believe my fate is being decided a bird who has no sense of coordination whatsoever. I felt like flipping the bird, the bird. You see, if you don't remember, Jayden was trying to play Einstein and gave a stupid suggestion that we both had to take on. Of course Chad didn't have to concede with this but after being called a chicken which deflated his giant ego by 5 percent he agreed. The person with the highest amount of pipes passed through wins. Considering I sucked at the said game Chad was ahead of me by five pipes. I heard the annoying sound of the annoying bird crashing into the also annoying green pipes that looked like they popped out of Mario World. And yes, to me everything about the game is annoying. He had a smirk on his face knowing I'll never beat his current high score which was now 67. I scowled in his direction but not before taking the phone out of his grasp. I only had one chance left to beat his score and we were surrounded by people who didn't know the definition of personal space. We already left the restaurant minutes ago and were now seated on comfy leather seats in a café.
I passed through the first 45 pipes with ease while trying to find enough space to keep comfortable. I breathed out a sigh of relief when I successfully went through 54th pipe. I could feel the sweat dripping down my face as I continued to play on. Chanting from all around me increased my very minimal confidence.
"Make it through that pipe"
"Dock!"
"Dodge, you're heading right for it!"
"Why can't the bird come with lasers to blast the pipes?"
I felt a new rush of Adrenaline as I made it through the 63rd pipe. I could feel Chad burning holes in my head with a menacing glare as I made it through the 68th then the 70th when I felt someone kick me from under the table which made me stop tapping and the bird lose its balance.
"Ow!" I said out loud as the feet connected with my leg. I turned to look at the culprit to see he had a smirk on his face which turned into a scowl seconds later when he realized that I had won the bet.
"Oh My Gosh, I won, I actually won. In your face you egocentric jerk!" I said pointing in his direction as I received cheers from the strangers around me and a few groans. Chad still had the scowl on his face as the crowd quickly dispersed.
"I guess that settles it then, Chad you have a new personal assistant" Jayden said his green eyes glazing with amusement. I heard Chad mutter some incoherent words before throwing a glare in Jayden's direction.
"Why the hell did I have to agree to your stupid plan?" Chad said to Jayden
"Oh come on, it won't be that bad" Jayden said standing up from his seat.
"Where are you going?" I asked nervously
"I have some... errands to run" he continued "See you Monday morning Chloe and look on the bright side"
"What bright side?"
"You get to see me everyday" he said before smiling cheekily
That comment made me blush and Jayden chuckle at my reaction before leaving. I looked at Chad to see that the previous scowl he had on had been replaced by an evil smirk.
