I wake up in the morning as usual. The sun is shining and the sky is beautiful and clear. However, they don't matter at all to me. The only person who pops up in my mind first every morning is Na Jaemin, my bestfriend, my crush, my first and last love.
I get up from my bed, take a shower and get dressed up. I come down to eat breakfast then bid farewell to my parents with a smile and go to school.
Jaemin and I have been in the same class since kindergarten. Now, we're in our second year of university. He's the reason that hypes me up during class. I'm always excited to see him even though he might not feel the same way.
As soon as I step in the class, I see Jaemin. I excitedly wave hello to him and he waves back with his angelic smile. Just then, I notice a girl besides him. She's my classmate, Chaerin. They seem so comfortable and flirty with each other. Don't tell me they're dating...
"Hey Daeun." Jaemin and Chaerin call me at the same time and smile at each other when they realize they did the same thing.
"Hey you guys." I smile and reply.
"We have something to tell you. Be ready to feel happy and special because you're the first person to know about this." Jaemin happily talks to me and his eyes are full of happiness.
Jaemin must be happy but why don't I feel good about this?
"Guess what, Daeun? We're officially dating." Jaemin yells happily and claps like a seal. Then he reaches out his hand to hold with Chaerin's.
As expected, my instincts never fail me. Here we go again, Daeun. Time for you to suffer again and get ready to comfort him when he's upset. Come to think of it, she is his third girlfriend. The first one is from his third year in middle school. They dated for a year then broke up. After a while, he got his second girlfriend in the first year in high school, dated for several months and broke up again. Guess what, I'm the one who was there for him obviously. I don't mind and I'm happy to be there for him but the hardest thing is that I have to pretend that I have no feelings for him the whole time. I want to be more than just a friend to him but the word impossible is always the answer.
"Daeun, are you listening? What are you thinking about?" Jaemin shakes me lightly to stop me from being lost in my own thoughts.
"Ohh, nothing. Just spacing out a bit. Anyway, how long have you guys been dating?" I lie and change the subject. I almost got caught for God's sake.
"For a week only, Daeun. It hasn't been long. Don't worry because you always get the hottest news since you're Jaemin's bestfriend." Chaerin chuckles and winks at me.
They must be happy but I'm not.
"Oh, I see. Congratulations, you guys. Jaemin, treat her right okay?" I nod and tell Jaemin with my threatening expression.
Duh, Jaemin always treats his girlfriends right. He's the one who got dumped everytime. Thinking about this makes me sigh everytime but I hold it because it will look weird.
"Ayee, I know Daeun. Thank you." Jaemin laughs and hits me gently.
After Jaemin finishes speaking, the bell rings which signals the start of the class. I wave goodbye to them and we all go to our own respective seats.
As predicted, I can't seem to focus on the lessons throughout the whole class. I keep sighing and fidgeting my pen. I feel anxious and uneasy not because I'm afraid I would get hurt again but because I'm afraid Jaemin would be heartbroken again.
Next to me is my another bestfriend, Mark. Mark Lee to be exact. He's been my bestfriend since the first year of high school only but we know each other so well like we've been friends since we were born. I don't like to call him Mark like others though. I like to call him by his Korean name, Minhyung.
"Hey, miss Daeun. Thinking about your crush?" Mark whispers into my ears.
"Oh god. Jeez Minhyung. You almost gave me a heart attack." I'm very surprised as I hit his arm quite hard.
"Gosh, that hurts Daeun." He rubs his arm and whines.
"Then you shouldn't have done that." I shrug my shoulders.
"You're hurt again right? About Jaemin and Chaerin dating." He asks me and his eyes are full of concern.
"Well I do. But I'm more afraid that he would get hurt again." I laugh hopelessly and sigh.
"Worry about yourself instead, miss. Anyway, let's go to the bubble tea shop near my house after class. My treat." Mark exclaims.
"Really? You mean it?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Of course. I want to treat my upset friend." He smiles.
"Okay. Thanks, Minhyung." I reply and smile back.
Just like that, I'm patiently waiting for the class to be over. I want to be with Jaemin more but he has a girlfriend so yeah. He doesn't need me at times like that. Loving him is both a blessing and a torture...
So this is my NaNa's first fanfic. He's my sunshine and must be protected at all cost. He brings out the noona's instincts inside me. I love him so much.
Enjoy and excuse me for any errors and mistakes. Thank you. 💞
