ROSS' Pov

"You sure she's even coming dude?"
Ignoring Brandon for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, I sat hunched over in terminal one awaiting our flight back to California.
I haven't spoke to Laura since that night after she agreed to come home. I texted her the information of our flight last night but got no response which worried me even more.
She's going to come, she promised.
right?
maybe she wasn't going to come. maybe she felt like i pressured her. Or maybe i hadn't reassured her enough and she fells as if the damage has already been done. it has been six years after all. she'd be the prodigal daughter returning in a time of need.
Oh who was i kidding, she had no reason to come back, she had a Well paying job -which i try avoid thinking about- a home and car. she had no reason to return.
after all returning would be much harder, to face everyone again after many years.
"Good morning passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 89B to South California. We are now inviting those passengers with small children, and any passengers requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately ten minutes time. Thank you"
"Shit." I muttered under my breath.
Brandon turned to me as i stood to my feet, using my height as an advantage to peer over the crowd, my eyes scanning for a head of dark hair with loose curls.
Come on Laura.
time counts down as i pace. What if she really doesn't come? Who am i kidding, she had a life here, with friends, who i'm sure had become family over the years.
"Ross?"
as if possessed, my neck snap to the sound of her voice.Soft and melodious, somewhere behind me.
She stood behind me in an off shoulder wrap top the wrapped around her waist with a bow, light blue fitted jeans with nude color heels. She looked good.
"You came." breathless, i could barely get my words out, amazed that she was actually here in front of me.
taking the shades off her face, she looked up at me. "I did."
It took everything in me to not grab her by the waist and wrap her in my arms.
She was actually here.
"Sorry I'm late, i had to sort things out with my landlord. It was kind of last minute after all, that's why i was so busy, sorry i didn't get to call you." she smile softly.
"No no, that's fine, i get it." i said still staring at her.
A harsh clearing of throat behind me made me roll my eyes as Laura's flickered to the person behind me.
"Would you like some water?" i asked spinning around.
"I would like that actually." Brandon spoke grinning.
Rolling my eyes i introduced them "Laura, This is my friend-"
"BEST friend." He corrected.
i rolled my eyes for what felt like the umpteenth time "he's my friend Brandon,Brandon, This is Laura, Nate's sister. But you already knew that." i sighed.
"Hi, Its nice to meet you." Laura smiled, exchanging her bag on her arm before stretching her hands to shake.
Brandon took it grinning "You're the classiest night walker I've ever seen."
Cues spit.
Well I would have spit if my mouth was filled with a drink, Instead, I choked on my saliva.
Brandon tapped my back in attempts to clear my throat. When my throat did clear up I blinked away the tears to find Laura staring at Brandon with wide eyes, lips thin.
"It was a joke!" Brandon said hands in the air, in surrender.
"Would you shut the hell up dude." i hissed.
"I'm sorry, i put my foot in my mouth often. That was supposed to be a joke, an ice breaker - uh, um, I'm Brando Hudson I'm jobless and single and i love food, i'll shut up now." He said cringing.
Laura blinked, before surprisingly laughing. "Hi, Brandon, its a pleasure meeting you."
Really?
"Really?" Brandon Gasped. Before Laura could say yes, Brandon pulled her into a hug making her laugh.
"Someone actually likes me, so refreshing." he hummed in her hair.
i rolled my eyes and pulled him off of her.
before we could say anything more our flight name was called, it was time to board.
Brandon grabbed his traveled bag and Laura's Luggage as she turned to me.
"You ready for this?"
she inhaled deeply as her brown eyes stared up at me. "Let's do this."
