Finding Blu

Chapter 2: Charay

     I get a new assignment today. Boss said I get two partners on this one. I hope it's Rehdd and Ginger. I always do better when I'm with them.

     I get to the door that leads to Boss' office and type the code into the little box next to the doorknob. It beeps and lets me in.

     The circuler room has two desks, one against the wall in the back of the room, the other in the center of the room. Boss has her back turned to me, and I can tell she is on the computer that sits on the first desk.

     I clear my throat to let her know I'm there. She jumps in her seat when she hears me, then turns around.

     "Oh, Charay, I didn't realize you were in here," she says in her high-pitched voice.

     "I just got in ma'am." Her hair is white, and I wonder how someone so young has white hair. She can't be older than 25.

     "Well take a seat. Your partners should be here soon."

     I sit in one of the three chairs that face the second desk. Most assignments have no more than three agents to get it done, but occasionally there will be a 'mission' with several people and one leader. Those aren't as much fun as the regular assignments.

     I keep thinking about Boss' white hair. How come I never thought about this before? I knew her hair was white when I first started working here, and that she was really young, but why didn't I realize how odd that is?

      My thoughts are interupted by two hooded figures coming into the room; their shadows fall on Boss' desk. She turns around to face the two people standing before her, and a smile lights up her face.

     "Welcome back, Agent Rehdd, Agent Ginger." She nods at each one when she says their name. "I hope your previous assignment was a success."

     They pull back their hoods and Rehdd turns and smiles at me while Ginger tells Boss about their last assignment. His straight white teeth, lopsided grin, and intense green eyes can get most girls to fall for him. It's sort of a joke between the three of us, because Ginger and I are the only girls at the agency that don't have a crush on him.

     "So what's our new assignment," Ginger says smiling about our joke.

     Boss sets a clipboard with a picture af a pretty, young girl, and her description, on the desk. Ginger is sitting in the middle and takes it first.

     "Blu. Kind of unusual to be named after a color isn't it?" she says looking at Rehdd. He scowls back.

     "Blu went missing three months ago. Her parents believe she was in the 'Red Village' when it happened.

     "She was on her way home from a friends house, and texted her parents telling them she was going to take the shortcut through there. Unfortunatly she never came home. Cops have been searching for her since her parents reported her missing.

     "The cops found nothing indicating a murder so we suspect she's been abducted. Your assignment is to find out what happened to her, and if possible bring her back."
