The shattered mirror reflected a demon, me. My golden eyes shimmered brightly in the mirror. I was the outcast of the city because of it.
I got onto my mattress and tried to fall asleep, I was nervous about tomorrow, as I was attempting to get into the most prestigious magic school in Aladia. But it was more the fact that the cold wind blew against me and all I had to shelter myself was a knitted blanket .
I woke up just on time and got myself dressed and ate the scraps of food that had been provided.
There were people bustling around everywhere , like it was almost a festival except it was full of reporters trying to catch unknowing students trying to get into school. No one wanted to talk to me which I didn't complain about.
The school was perfect, the hedges were cut into shapes of mythical creatures and flowers were blooming even though it was autumn. I pushed passed the crowed and went to the front gate where students were trying to show the forms to security guards I showed them the crumped up papers and walked inside the building.
"Hazel! Hazel!"
I turned around to see Leo running towards me. His brownish-red hair was in its usual mess.
"Hey!" I giggled.
I've known Leo since I was 5 and if it wasn't for him I would have died a long time ago. Leo had brownish-red hair with brown eyes and freckles.
We followed the crowed to a large room with a lot of chairs and a stage.
" attention students" A lady walked to the stage, she was short with a bob cut and big glasses.
" I'm glad to see you all today, as you know only 300 our of the 1000 student will be able to get into our school, there will be a practical and a written test, please try your best on both of them" She spoke into the mic and then skipped off the
Then another teacher walked up, she started speaking names and telling them where to go, after a while my name was called and I was told to go to the "E" gym so I followed the crowd there.
It was ginormous, it could probably fit at least 20 maybe even 40 of my tiny room.
" alright students" a woman said " you will be tested on your fighting ability, the top 50 out of the 100 of you will go into the written exam, it doesn't matter if you win or loose the fight, as long as the judges think of you as acceptable"
I looked around at the other students, wondering who I would fight. Everyone we're girls and we were lined up in a row. Then names were called and girls started fighting.
The test went on for what seemed to be forever. I waited. Some people were in groups talking to one another but I was sitting alone against the cold marble floor.
After they fought, the girls got to leave. About half of the people had already fought and had left.
" Hazel Amuka?"
