A/N: so people wonder why is it that Queen Sectonia, out of all the villians in Kirby, is my favorite out of all of them. Well, here's where I explain it all.
The first reason would be both her fights and music.
The fights with sectonia in triple deluxe were one of the best fights in a kirby boss battle. Sectonia fights kirby in some new ways. The first phase has her fighting kirby by swords, summoning enemies, using the powers of her staff and some other interesting abilities such as teleporting abilities. She's a very fast one in the battle too so it's almost a while to take her on unless you have an ability with you. And the battle was only made just as awesome with the amazing music playing in the background. It's actually a very good different shift in music compared to the kind of music you hear in preview kirby boss fights.
The second phase of the is a little different from it's first one. Sectonia has now merged herself with the dreamstalk and now wishes to uses all of popstar as her eternal sustenance. Now kirby takes her on again. This time she uses flowers with eyes inside of them to attack kirby each time. Some use blade forms, others go into a spiky ball like form and others use lasers to try and blast kirby. After sectonia draws kirby closer, she herself will attack him head on. Firing a few spikes from her and firing even more powerful lasers at kirby. Once she's defeated in that phase, she's still not done as she grabs kirby with a vine. But dedede and taranza give kirby the miracle which helps him turn hypernova and finish off sectonia.
And her soul battle (which I consider canon), she absorbs 4 miracle fruit to revive herself and fight kirby one last time. Her first phase of it is the same of the second phase of normal sectonia except with a few new moves done by the eyes and sectonia using the vines of the dreamstalk to slash kirby. But anyway, after beating her, she'll tear herself off of the dreamstalk and attack kirby in a few various ways similar to previous soul bosses. It would be a long battle before kirby finally beats her and she let's out a scream as she burst into petals, ending sectonia.
But that's not the only reason for why she's my favorite. The biggest reason for why she's my favorite is because of her whole story through out the series. She was the first villian in the series to have one of the saddest back stories I've ever heard of. Allow me to begin.
Long before the events of Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Queen Sectonia was once a just and kind ruler of Floralia and a close friend of her right-hand man Taranza, whom of which she use to be a similar species of. However, Taranza eventually came across the Dimensional Mirror, which he then presented to her. Due to excessive gazing into the Dimensional Mirror, she slowly became corrupted by it's influence, developing obsessions with beauty and power. The reason of this most likely due to either dark meta knight or more likely dark mind. She eventually used her newfound dark magic to transform herself into a giant bee, seeing her new form as true beauty. The more evil she had become with the mirror, the worse she became towards Taranza and her citizens. She eventually tried to rule over Floralia's inhabitants as their goddess and began imprisoning them to serve her. As a last resort to save their world, the People of the Sky sent the Dreamstalk seed down to Dream Land in the hopes that it would reach its hero to rescue them. However, Sectonia became aware of this plan and sent Taranza to intervene, however, he mistakenly captured King Dedede, while Kirby pursued the two throughout Floralia. long story short, kirby soon reaches them and beats masked dedede controlled by Taranza. Taranza calls on sectonia for help, only to be based by her for failing. She blasted her own use-to-be best friend for failing her because of the her mind being corrupted. And this saddest gets even more further when you look at the translated version of the original Japanese pause screen description for Sectonia's soul. It says that she no longer can recognize herself, friends, or her family, and actually BEGS Kirby to kill her so she can rest in peace. She literally begged kirby to kill her and to finally end her suffering. That shows how dark this series is.
But then it gets worse for her in planet robobot, when she's revived back as a clone.
But you want to know how she was clone? From the remnants of flower petals from her previous battle with kirby. So that means that her remains were used for a mindless clone made by star dream. And after that clone is destroyed, so was what remained of Sectonia. It's honestly the most saddest thing once you think about it because in a way, Sectonia didn't deserve to die but it was because of her corruption from the Dimensional Mirror that she became that way. I feel bad for sectonia. But I feel even worse for taranza having lost his very close friend he's known for years. And he's still hasn't gotten over her death.
Austin was walking alone on his own before he heard the sound of crying.
Austin: hm?
He looked up and saw Taranza, who was looking down at a flower as tears rolled down his face. Austin head over to taranza and got his attention.
Austin: taranza........
He looked up slowly at Austin while tears still rolled down his face. Austin kneeled down to his level and gave taranza a hug.
Taranza: w......we could've saved her.....w.....we just needed something to......
Taranza soon stopped as he didn't have a full idea and just continued to cry.
Austin: I know taranza, I miss her too.
He said as he continued to comfort the small Floralian.
(Book 3 will be up soon).
