How To Get More Reads/Votes on Your Story

****i wrote this a long time ago when I was just starting high school so I apologize if this seems redundant or obnoxious. I'm currently creating a more improved version of this, but a lot of people find this helpful so I'm gonna keep it up****

Hello, for those of you who would like your stories to become more popular on Wattpad here you go.

1. Edit the crap out of each chapter before you publish it. Most readers dislike it when you don't know the difference between its and it's or you're, your or were and we're. Either get an editor on one of the Improve Your Writing forums, or put it through Microsoft Word.

2. Stick to your story line. That's all you need to know.

3. For the love of god, please try to back away from anything cliche that Wattpad has produced, such as:

-Green Orbs/Harry and cougars.

-Niall's obsession with food.

-Louis and Kevin

-Zayn and his vanity

-Liam's fear of spoons

These things have been overworked and they always make me click that little red X in the top right hand corner of my laptop.

4. Make a great cover or politely request one on the Multi-medium designs forum. It is super simple as long as you're patient and kind to the graphic designers.

5. Update at least once or twice a week at first. I know I'm guilty of skipping out on my updates, but that's because I get major writers block. People like it when there are more pages to read if your story is interesting.

6. Your description should be short or intriguing enough to pull someone in and please steer clear away from using something like this as your description/prologue/introduction:

My name is Brittany and I have long blonde hair that falls down my back, with large blue eyes and the most perfect tanned skin, I'm super nice and smart, but everyone hates me. Etc.

7. Do not copy someone else's story line. It is rude and completely unnecessary. You're not an idiot (unless you copy the story), so don't do it.

8. Have interesting characters or your story will die before it's even read,

9. Maybe get someone to critique it before you publish it. You never know if there's a gap in the story...

10. Be creative. Wattpad is an outlet for all types of artists and the main goal is to express yourself. Use writing or graphic designs to interpret your life, or any problems you could be having at the moment. It really does help to get it all out,
