The sun was shining high in the sky

Across the fields you could see various wolves training, and in the middle of it all was a lady that could give Helen of Troy a run for her money.

Brunette hair that ended just near her hip, Blue eyes that would allure you to its depths, so wild, so vicious, like tidal waves that would drown even the most experienced of sailors.

She was a fierce warrior, strong, intelligent, and with a grace that would put queens to shame. And to top it all off she was the pack's Alpha.

Infront of her was her Beta, her best friend. Many would've bet that they were mates. The were perfect together. He was tall, imposing, and was built like a greek god. Tousled brown hair sat atop his head, piercing blue eyes that would send shivers down your spine, a pale blue that would remind you of a cold winters day. Crisp. Bright. Enchanting.

They were sparring, it was day like these that the pack was most relaxed. And as their Alpha, her being there brought their spirits up even more.

It had been two years since she was awarded the Alpha title. The pack was in its best shape. The pack was flourishing. They were one of the strongest packs in world, all thanks to her.

But even with these accomplishments, there was one thing missing. She was mateless. Almost 28 but still, mateless.

By the passing days she was getting more and more aggravated. But she didn't show it. Hiding behind her closed bedroom doors , she'd sometimes drink her heart out and cry till she fell a sleep. She knew she didn't need a man, but it still struck a nerve when mates were the topic. She was ashamed she was alone, and her wolf wasn't getting any happier.

Her beta had already found his mate, and already had two pups. While she sat alone on various occasions and balls for alphas and betas.

Though she had many suitors, she stood her ground that she'd wait for her mate. But time was of the essence. She felt like she was going to go mad. Slowly eating away her soul, slowly her heart was dying. And day by day she was giving up.

Being thrown to the ground she was brought back to her senses. Her Beta was standing above her with a wicked grin.
"You were distracted" he said. Which earned him a glare. He offered his hand, which she gladly took. Standing up they came to the agreement that it was enough sparring for the day, and lunch was in order.

Everyone left the clearing, which left her there alone. Contemplating. Thinking what had she done wrong. Her peace was disturbed when her gamma informed her that a certain Alpha was the border requesting to see her. She just about rolled her eyes knowing why he was there again. But nevertheless granted permission.

Going back to her office to meet the Alpha she was greeted by her pack members. She gave a warm smile and continued on.

After five minutes of waiting her door slammed open and a man was standing there "would it kill you to knock Kent?" She said, here was one of her suitors again. The Alpha of a pack west of her own. "Why Elise, it would" he retorted, "Then please do knock" she said while rolling her eyes. Which he gasped in response.

"You want me to die?" He said while giving her puppy eyes. She scoffed at his antics and said "you're not a pup, don't give me those eyes" which he only laughed at her response. They would always banter whenever he visited, and he took great joy in it. And as much as Elise denied it, she enjoyed Kent's company.

He had always liked Elise since they were children. He prayed to the Moon Goddess, begging for them to be mates. But sadly he was never indulged. Still he was relentless. His first mate died right infront of him a little over 5 years ago.

He was wandering through a human city one night when a speeding car crashed with the passenger side of another. When he came to help he saw his mate, he panicked and luckily the paramedics were wolves who understood the situation. And let him ride with them to the hospital. When they arrived she was announced dead.

The  event extinguished the light in his eyes. He almost went mad, he cried to the moon asking her why, and to this day he still lived with the vivid memory of his mate dying in his arms.

The door opening pulled him out of the mini flashback he had. Both Alphas looked at the figure entering her office to see it was her Beta calling her to eat. "Alex, good to see you, how are the pups?" Kent asked

The three had always been good friends, they picked each other up when they were down. And they helped one another whenever problems arose.

Giving a dazzling smile Alex began rambling about his beautiful family.

Looking at the sight infront of her. She was pondering.

Alpha Kent was a fine specimen. He was damn near perfect. Cunning, intelligent, witty, and he had a good sense of humor too. And his looks do not disappoint. Broad shoulders, muscular arms, a strong jawline, and green eyes with specks of hazel. That turned gold when looking at the sunrise and turned red when the light of the sunset hits it. He was utterly beautiful. And she was flattered that he liked her. But him not being her mate was what lead her to rejecting him. But yet here he was, patiently waiting for her.
