"Yesterday, like, when you were absent, this one girl, (L/n)-chan, came up to me and asked me for your address. I know she's your friend," Yahaba said, "but what do you think of me and her..." He gave his grumbling friend a little wink and shot him some finger guns.

Kyōtani sighed. "I think you'd be lucky if she gave you the time of day."

"But, I mean, she's a dancer. How can I not try with a dancer?"

"Like I said: she probably won't even give you the time of day." Kyōtani paused. "You're a real douche, you know that?"

"Yeah, I'm aware. Hey, wanna stop here?" He pointed towards the little coffee shop on the corner.

Kyōtani nodded, so they walked up to the cute shop. Yahaba opened the glass doors with the working hours pasted on them, and they stepped inside. The warmth and smell of coffee hit the two like a truck, but the more distracting thing to Kyōtani was the two girls sitting in the booth near the back. His dark blue varsity jacket with its white, leather sleeves rested on the shoulders of a (h/c)-haired girl.

"Kyōtani? Kyōtani." Yahaba shook his friends shoulder to get him out of a daze.

Kyōtani blinked suddenly, looking back over at Yahaba. "Don't touch me."

"You're as cold as ever. By the way, it's on me." He chuckled, turning towards the counter. "Hello, miss. I'll have a small green tea and a chocolate donut, please."

"Give me a Hershey's muffin and a medium coffee. Black," said Kyōtani.

Yahaba handed the girl the money and went to grab a table. He chose the booth right behind you, not noticing that it was you and Megumi. He sat down and eyed Kyōtani, who was looking at some stand of little stuffed animals.

"Well, he's cute, and I definitely like him, but..." he heard someone say behind him, "I-- he doesn't seem like the kind of person to be interested in me. I'm not the person that people have crushes on, anyway, let alone someone like him. "

"Are you kidding me, (Y/n)? You're the cutest, smartest, most amazing person on this planet. Next to me, of course." The two girls laughed.

Kyōtani came and sat down with his and Yahaba's orders. With him, he also carried a little, yellow, stuffed puppy. Yahaba gave the boy a questioning look as he turned around and tapped you on the shoulder. "Hey."

You turned around and jumped, a expression of panic washing over your face. "Kyōtani-kun? What're you doing here?"

He didn't reply, but instead just shoved the puppy towards you. He kept his gaze on the painting on the wall next to you as you accepted the little gift. "Well, what's this for?"

"I thought you would like it," he snarled slightly. "Don't you?"

You giggled. "No, of course I like it. How could I not? Thank you, Kyōtani-kun."

"So, this is Kyōtani-san? You didn't tell me he was friends with Shigeru." Megumi stated, reaching her hand over to shake.

"Shigeru?" you questioned.

"We're cousins," Yahaba said.

"Hello, Kyōtani-san, I'm Tachibana Megumi, (Y/n)'s best friend-- who is, by the way," she smirked, looking over at you, "ten times prettier and smarter."

You smiled and huffed slightly. "Don't you have a date with Oikawa-senpai?"

Megumi checked the time, suddenly scrambling out of the booth. "Oh, my god, you're right! Thanks for the coffee, (Y/n). Hey, uh, Shigeru," she looked over at Yahaba, "well, uh, walk me there. Because it's very, very dangerous."

"Huh?" He glanced between the you and a blushing Kyōtani. "Oh, sure, of course," he agreed as they left the store. About halfway down the block, he sighed. "Well this sucks."

"What sucks?"

"Well, I was gonna bag your hot dancer friend." He put his hands behind his head and smiled slightly. "But I guess they're a better long-term fit. I've never seen Kyōtani with that look on his face."

"Yeah, he's in love, isn't he? Besides, if you wanted a one-night stand, (Y/n) is not the girl for the job, ya' douchebag. She's never even had her first kiss," Megumi commented, but soon covered her mouth in shock. "I didn't mean to say that. Please don't tell anyone I said that. It's supposed to be a secret."

Yahaba began laughing his ass off. "She's never been kissed?! Ahaha, oh, my god!"

"Stop laughing! I think it sweet! She's saving her first kiss for someone special!"

"I'm not-- it's just that," he doubled over and clutched his stomach, "Kyōtani hasn't either!"

"What?"

Yahaba looked back up at her and grinned, his breath still heavy from laughing. "Kyōtani has never been kissed."

"Oh, my freaking god, they are perfect for each other."

"Who is perfect for whom?" The two looked up and saw Oikawa standing there, a slight smirk on his face.

"(L/n)-chan and Kyōtani."

Oikawa nodded. "Oh, yeah, I know. Now, Tachibana-chan, are you ready to go?"

"Oh, y-yes, of course."

Time Skip

"So, uh, I guess our parties bailed on us..."

Kyōtani huffed. "Yeah. Yahaba and I had movie tickets. Steal his, if you want."

"Are you sure?" you asked. "I wouldn't want to--"

"Well, clearly, he's not gonna use it now. C'mon." He stood up and grabbed his coffee, and you followed behind.

You placed the stuffed dog into the jacket pocket of Kyōtani's varsity jacket and stepped out of the coffee shop with him. The cold air enveloped you, so you wrapped your scarf around your neck and stuffed your hands in your pockets. But suddenly, a familiar warmth strung itself through your fingers and pulled your hand out of the pocket. You looked up at Kyōtani's stoic, yet very, very reddened, face, then down at your intertwined hands. Clinging closer to his arm, you gave Kyōtani a smile as you walked into the movie theater.

"Ooh, let's get some Starbursts; they're my favorite."

He smirked slightly, letting out a huff. "You got it. Now, how 'bout a horror movie? I heard 'A Quiet Place' was terrifying."

You lightly smacked his arm. "You make me see that and I will dump the popcorn down your shirt. No way in hell are we seeing that. C'mon, there's some volleyball movie out, let's see that."

"Nah, I think we should go for the terror." Glancing up at his face, you saw those determined eyes of his; he wasn't going to cave.

"Fine." You turned in front of him and poked at his chest a few times. "But if I cry, it's on you."

"Very well." He lazily wrapped an arm around your shoulders and headed towards the counter to buy the snacks.
