**FIVE MONTHS EARLIER**

*LANA'S POV*

I woke up the same way that I do almost every morning. My best friend laying at my side with one arm tucked behind his head and the other, lightly lying across my body.

I rolled over to face him and he slowly began to toss and wake up.

"Morning, Lan," he said in his morning voice, which, I must say, is quite the turn on.

"Goodmorning, Sammy-Bear," I giggled.

I always called him that, since we were in the seventh grade. We became really close in middle school and we've been the same ever since. Now that we were in high school, a lot has changed. He comes over daily, he's allowed to sleepover, and my parents absolutely love him. No, we aren't dating, but everyone thinks that we are because of our friendship. We are so tight knit, it's like a dream friendship, really.

He wrapped his arms tightly around me and rolled over so that I was lying on top of him. I giggled loudly and rested my head on his chest as I strattled him.

"What do you want to do today, Sam?" I mumbled into his chest.

He played with my hair as he thought about what to do. After a minute or two he finally spoke up.

"Well, we can just hang out all day and then go to Taylor's party later, sound good?" he replied.

I slightly nodded and picked my head up off of his chest.

"Sounds like a plan, rubber-band," I laughed.

"You're so weird," he laughed while tapping my nose.

We were lying there talking and there was a tap on my door.

"Come in," I mumbled while rolling my eyes.

"Hey, you two," my mom cooed.

"Mommmmmm," I whined at my annoying miter who now sat on my stool.

"What do you guys want for breakfast?" she smiled.

Sam laughed under me and sat up so that I was now sitting on his lap.

"Actually, I'm going to take Lana out for breakfast today, thank you though," He smiled.

I looked at him with a confused look while my mom smirked and walked out.

"We are going out?" I asked excitedly.

Sam nodded and kissed my cheek.

"Sure, how about Denny's?" he smirked in knowing that that was my favorite place.

"Yes please!" I exclaimed while clapping my hands.

I gave him a tight hug and hopped off of his lap to get ready. I grabbed my clothes and put them on, threw my hair into a messy bun in the top of my head, brushed my teeth, put on my shoes, and bounced down the stairs to meet Sam outside.

I walked out the door and down the driveway to hop into Sammy's jeep. It was nice, white on the outside and a grayish color on the interior.

"Ready?" he asked, looking over at me.

"Yes, Sir," I replied, nodding.

"Then why aren't you buckled?"

he asked seriously.

"Sam, you can't be serious," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Lana, I don't know what I would do with myself if I got into an accident and you went flying through the windshield, put it on, now," he demanded, looking at me very seriously.
