**BACK TO PRESENT TIME**
*SAM'S POV*
"So you and Lana seem like you've been pretty close for a while now, what's happening?" Taylor winked at me.
I shook my head and laughed.
If only he had known that this all started in a bedroom at his party, it would be a whole different conversation.
Hiding Lana and I's relationship from everyone gets harder and harder every single day. We aren't dating, it's just, complicated, I guess. We are just kind of "side-jobs" for each other at the moment, or, for the last five months. After the night at Taylor's, stuff completely changed. The first few days after that, we were so awkward around each other and we didn't even have sleepovers or anything. She hardly talked to me and really kept her distance. But after the awkward stage, everything went back to normal, well, almost everything, we just added some kisses, and some cuddles, and maybe some intimate moments if you know what I mean. Friends with benefits.
"I don't know, bro. She's my best friend, we have to be close," I laughed awkwardly.
He gave me a weird look before saying,
"Well in my opinion, you guys would be pretty cute, I mean, you would make pretty cute babies," he said, looking at me with a straight face.
I started laughing hysterically and smacked the back of his head.
"Taylor we will not be making babies anytime soon," I lied.
"I was speaking the truth!" he laughed.
I shook my head and stood up from my seat to go get my lunch and go find Lana. I walked through the hallway and to the lunch line, where I spotted her. I ran over and put my arms around her from behind, catching her off guard. She turned around in my arms and smiled.
"Hey, Sammy," she said sweetly, a small blush on her cheeks.
"Hi, Lan. How's your day so far?" I smiled.
"It's been okay, better now," she shrugged.
Our friend Amanda was waggling her eyebrows behind Lana, I just rolled my eyes at her and went back to gazing at the pretty girl who was in my arms.
"Are you going to come over later for movie night, it's Tuesday, don't forget," she smiled.
"How could I forget?" I asked while giving her a squeeze.
She shrugged and grabbed my hand, dragging me back to the lunch table. We talked to our friends until the period was over and then split ways because we had no classes together in the afternoon. It was terrible actually.
After the final bell rang, I ran to my car and hopped in so that I could miss the traffic. I really felt like I was forgetting something but I couldn't figure it out, so I just pulled out of the parking lot and began the drive home. After about five minutes if driving, I arrived at my house. Right before I was going to get out, my phone started ringing. I dug it out of my pocket and answered.
"Sam, you left me at school," Lana giggled on the other end of the line.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I'll be there in five. Don't go anywhere, love you," I rushed to say before speeding down my driveway and tearing down the road.
After school is when all the creepers come out. One time there was a freshman who was talking to a freshman in collage and he came and took her after school one day, nobody ever saw her again. I'm telling you, if something like that happened to Lana, I would probably kill myself and I'm not even kidding.
I pulled up at the school in front of the front doors. Lana walked out and plopped into the passenger seat, rolling her eyes at me playfully.
"I wanted to miss the traffic, I knew I was forgetting something," I said, face-palming myself.
"It's alright, Sammy Bear. But you owe me," she smirked.
She moved a little closer to me and whispered in my ear,
"You owe me big time."
It sent a shiver down my spine when she did that.
"Now get driving," she smiled, patting my leg.
I swear this girl will be the death of me.
After two hours of alone time, her parents got home. Her mom made us dinner and we ate. Then, we went down the basement to begin movie night, just like every other Tuesday.
We grabbed the blankets and pillows and made a bed on the floor for us, then we lied down and cuddled up.
"Hey Sam?" she asked.
I looked down at her face and she had a tint if worry in her eye.
"Yeah, baby?" I replied.
"I just-"
"You found someone else?" I said, my body tensing up.
"Awe, Sammy. No, baby, it's not that," she said wrapping her arms around me.
I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close into my chest.
When this all first happened, we agreed that we could date other people but we weren't aloud to do anything with each other anymore. So usually when one of us says something about asking a question and is so serious like that, you get a little shaken up.
"Then what is it?" I asked.
"I was just thinking, what if people find out? What will they think?" she asked seriously.
I rubbed tiny circles on her back for comfort.
"I don't know Lan, I really don't. I wish I could give you an answer but I just can't, only the future holds the answers," I replied truthfully.
She nodded and rested her head on my chest, sighing.
"But I can tell you one thing," I paused, "We won't change for anyone," I finished.
She looked at me and smiled, the big, white smile that I love, then leaned in and kissed me.
"You're the best friend I could ever ask for, Sam," she said, looking at me in the eyes.
"And you're the best friend that I could ever ask for," I smiled, pecking her lips again.
And with that, we finished movie night and fell into a deep slumber.
I woke up to someone calling my name I looked over and saw Lana, tossing and turning.
"Sam," she said, rolling around. "Sammy, what are you d-doing?" she stuttered. "Sam, no!!" she yelled tears falling down her face.
"Lan, Lan, wake up!" I whisper-yelled as I shook her.
Her eyes popped open and she was breathing hard, the tears were still rapidly falling down her face. I sat up and pulled her into my arms.
She looked up at me and sighed.
"Babe," she huffed out, wrapping her arms around my neck and hugging me.
"It's okay, I'm here," I comforted her.
I kissed her head and lied down on the ground with her still wrapped in my arms.
"Let's go back to sleep, we can talk tomorrow okay?" I asked.
She nodded slightly and kissed my cheek.
"Love you," she said softly.
"Love you too, Lana," I replied.
