Chapter Two: If You Can't Beat 'em, Join 'em.

The sun shined brightly through Yoyo's window the morning after his big escape. The green haired boy rose from his bed, got dressed and went out the door to set off on his first solo adventure as the newest member of the GG's. All he knows is that the Goddess of Dogenzaka has been stolen, and some good-for-nothing punk has been talking shit about the GG's. Yoyo set off for Dogenzaka Hill ready to shred up the streets and mark up the GG's new territory.
Dogenzaka Hill is one long downwards slope that's just begging for a new paint job, so Yoyo took his time getting to the bottom of the hill searching for clues, punks, and spots that needed some touching up. Once he started heading back up he figured that there wasn't much he could do about the Goddess as there wasn't any clues to who took it. He was about to head in when he spotted another brightly dressed kid in roller blades down the street from him.
This must be that punk who's been spreading rumors about us!
Yoyo thought to himself. He skated up to the boy and saw that he was wearing big blue sunglasses and headphones with two spiked antennas protruding from the sides.
Does this kid realize how whack he looks? He looks like some kind of freaky bug.
The boy looked to Yoyo and smirked, and before Yoyo could say anything he road a rail up and through the window of the market right in front of them, and Yoyo chased after him. Once Yoyo caught up to him he skated off again and Yoyo continued to follow him until they got to the top of Dogenzaka Hill where Yoyo started.
"Are you that guy who's been talking shit about me and my friends?" Yoyo asked once the boy finally stopped.
"Ah, you must be one of those lame-ass GG's. No wonder you were following me. I thought you just wanted my number." The boy coyly shot back at Yoyo.
"W-what, no way, yo! Why would I want that? You look like some crazy ass bug-man anyway." Yoyo said back flustered.
I mean he does have a nice build to him, and his bright red hair is kinda- wait what am I thinking this asshole has been dragging the GG's name through his lies, this isn't the time to think about his hair what the hell, Yo!
This bug-like boy was starting to get into Yoyo's head and it wasn't going to end well  unless something happened fast.
"I'll tell ya what, kid." The flame-headed boy started, "if you can beat me in one lap around Dogenzaka Hill, then I'll leave you and your little group alone. Deal?"
He held out is hand for a handshake. Yoyo agreed and the two started off on their race. The two sprinted down the hill weaving through people, showing off their skills, and using the jets on their skates to shoot past one another until Yoyo lost sight of the bug boy and came in first. The unknown punk came rolling in a few seconds later.
"Not bad, not bad at all." The boy said out of breath. "Maybe you guys aren't as bad as it seems, guess I'll join you." He said holding out his hand for a handshake, "the names Beat. And you are?"
"Yoyo." Yoyo answered shaking Beat's hand. "But, I'm not the leader, Corn is. I don't think I can just let you join-"
"Oh don't worry about it, I know Corn I'm sure it won't be a problem." Beat said cutting Yoyo off.
"You know Corn?" Yoyo asked, shocked.
"Yeah we were buddies when we were in the same high school. Is he still with that chick taffy or whatever?"
"You mean Gum? Yeah she's the other member of the GG's."
"Sick, this is gonna be a lot of fun. Tell ya what I'll just head back to your guys' hangout and I'll let you finish whatever it is your doing." Beat said as he started to skate away.
"No, no. Not so fast bug-eyes. I need you to tell me everything you know about the missing Goddess of Dogenzaka Hill Statue." Yoyo said stopping Beat from ditching him.
"I don't know anything about that, man. Maybe DJ K will have something to say about it in a little bit. Why don't we just head back to your hangout before one of these pedestrians calls in a complaint about us-" just then the two boys heard blaring police sirens getting closer to them. "-to the police." Beat finished.
"Yo, what do we do?" Yoyo asked panicking.
"I'll knock 'em down, you spray 'em. Got it?" Beat said.
A small group of policemen came storming out of their police cars and Beat and Yoyo went to work to take them all down. After they were done they went back to the Garage to get out of the public and listen into the gospel of the street, Jet Set Radio, to see if the host DJ Professor K had any info about the missing statute.

"You did what now?" Corn shouted at Yoyo, trying to figure out why exactly Beat was sitting in his living room claiming to be the newest member of the GG's.
"I was at Dogenzaka Hill trying to find clues and silence the guy who's been talking shit about us, found this freaky dude, kicked his ass in a race, and now he says he's part of our group." Yoyo said shrugging his shoulders.
"You know you aren't authorized to make those decisions, right Yoyo?" Gum chimed in.
"I didn't give him an offer, yo! He just said he was joining and that he knows you two so it'll be fine. I didn't really get a say in the matter. How do you know him anyway?" Yoyo asked interested to see the backstory behind his friends and the flame-headed punk in the other room.
"We went to high school together, and at the time we had a similar gang, but it got messy and he moved to a different school. I have no idea why he wants to be around us again, so him wanting to join us seems a little sketchy to me. Just watch your back kid. Literally, he's gonna be sharing a room with you." Corn said, he and Gum started walking back towards the living room. Yoyo shot up from the couch he had been sitting on.
"What?! Why?!"
"Because it's your fault for bein' a pushover and letting him follow you back here." Gum winked as her and corn continued walking.
"Hurry up and get out here, Yoyo! DJ K's show is about to start." Corn yelled from the living room. With that, Yoyo walked into the living room and took the only open spot, next to Beat.
"Hey this is gonna be fun, right Roomie? But, just to warn you, I'm a cuddler." Beat jokingly said while the radio station went to static and DJ Professor K's broadcast began.
