The Mountain was cold and damp, Nothing like their previous home. She hated that. The hut was, like Jenny said, more like a rundown tent of misery. It smelled like chocolate tho. Their parents had just left. The three siblings stood in front of the hut at the door.
Charlotte let out a annoyed sigh and knocked, a cheerful brown wolf opened the door with the biggest grin on her face.
Wendy: Charlotte! Cooper! Sammy!
She went in for a group hug.
Wendy: I'm so glad you kids are her! It's gets kinda lonely after a while, ya know? Oh, suppose you wouldn't. You see your friends every day! Don't 'cha CharChar?
Char: Yeah sure.
Wendy: Ah! It's been to long! Last I saw you all, Sammy was the size of a coconut!
Sammy giggled in response to her silly aunt.
Wendy: Look at you Cooper! You're growing so big! and handsome to may I add! haha!
She ruffled the fur onto his head. He looked like he was going to literally die.
Wendy: Charlotte, you've-
Char: Hi Aunt Wendy, I don't need a hug. Please.
Aunt Wendy's expression turned into utter disappointment.
Wendy: Oh . . . Well that's fine dear!
Aunt Wendy and the trio entered the Hut. Smelled like chocolate and charcoal. Charlotte wasn't impress. Cooper stared at the strange machine in the center of the 'wall'. Sammy ran over to the fireplace
Wendy: Sammy, sweetie, no! Fires not food!
She swooped Sammy up in one paw. Sammy mewed like a kitten at her, trying to act threatening. Didn't work.
Cooper: What is this thing?
Wendy: Well Cooper! That's were I make the hot cocoa!
She placed Sammy down and she made a run for the fire again. Wendy pinned her tail down with her paw leaving Sammy running in place for almost five minutes straight.
Wendy: Charlotte used to try and make hot cocoa all the time!
Char: Yeah, when I was like six.
Wendy: . . . . . well, I made you all scarves! Over on the table here.
She wrapped a blue scarf with pink hearts around Sammy's neck. Cooper's was green with white stripes. Charlotte's was blue with white snowflakes.
Wendy: Wellll?
Char: They're . . . nice.
Sammy let out a long yawn and plopped down on to the ground.
Wendy: Well I think their lovely. It's getting late, you all should head to bed.
Three large pillows circled around the fireplace. Worn, old blankets, sloppy folded laid on top of each one.
Aunt Wendy tucked Sammy in and left to the other side of the room to read.
Charlotte tossed and turned on her pillow. It was to thin and the blanket had too many holes in it to keep her warm. Eventually she gave up and got out of bed.
Char: Aunt Wendy, do you have any other blankets?
She put her book down and thought for a while.
Wendy: No, sorry honey.
and went back to reading.
Char: Are you kidding me?!! Are you insane women? I'll freeze to death out here!
Wendy: Keep your voice down-
Char: No! I'll scream if I want to! In fact . . .
Wendy: Don't you dare-
She took a deep breath.
Char: I HATE THIS STUPID MOUNTAIN!! I HATE THE COLD! I HATE THIS BLANKET AND THIS PILLOW! OH, AND I ESPECIALLY HATE YOU!
Sammy flinched in her sleep. Charlotte's teeth were bared and her eyes had tears in them. Wendy's ears laid flat on her head. It was quite. Charlotte shut her eyes and cried on the ground. Aunt Wendy placed her paw on her shoulder then hugged her niece.
No one talked.
