I sat bolt upright and swung my bare knees up towards my chest and safely wrapped my arms around my legs. I felt safe this way, I’d done this ever since I was little to keep myself away from danger, first sign of danger and I’d wrap myself into a little ball. It’s the only thing I’ve ever known, danger.

I threw my head back and stared out of the unclean window wishing I could be young and carefree once again running through the fields once again. You see, all that had been taken away from me, all those 6 years ago when the fatal accident happened. If only we’d have taken life more seriously back then, we might have been in a different position right now.

I sighed heavily and lay onto my back until my whole body was laid flat upon the stone cold floor, suddenly the heavy iron door down the hall banging shut startled me until I was once again sat upright pulling my knees into my chest. My body begins to shake, all thoughts I originally held were overtaken by thoughts of fear, who was it this time? What were they going to do to me? Same as last time?

Not a single positive thought crossed my mind at that present moment, like someone could have been coming to save me.

The loud heavy footsteps were getting closer to me, I put my head down so I was hidden and made sure I couldn’t be heard so I slowed down my breathing in an attempt to not only not be heard, but to calm my fears too. I could not be caught again – not the time. I needed to be saved, from whom though?  Who was out to get me after all these years?

Everything fell silent once again, so I looked up assuming I was alone.

Except I wasn’t.

There he was, stood in front of me, the boy who had got me into all this trouble. He had a guilty smile worn upon his face.

Sorry…” he whispered, barely loud enough for himself to hear, never mind me.

Niall?” I spoke, my voice clearly breaking, ready for tears to form in my blue eyes.
