Nyx POV
"Hey. You feeling any better, Nyx?" Weiss asked as she approached me. "Yeah, a little bit." I replied. "So, about yesterday...What was that all about?" Weiss inquired. "You...did hear me, right? Or did all of that fall on deaf ears?" I whispered. "I heard. Were you serious, or were you just trying to get them away from you?" Weiss continued. I scoffed in disbelief. "Really? Do you honestly think I'd make all of that up?" I hissed. "Why are you whispering?" She asked. "Little too much screaming yesterday. Scorched my throat." I said softly. Weiss gave me a confused look, and shot sparks from my hand. Realization flashed in her eyes.
"How much did that hurt?" Weiss asked, eyes wide. "Loads. You have no idea." I sighed. I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I turned around to see Ruby. My expression hardened. "Back for more?" I hissed, my voice dripping with malice. Ruby shrank away, and I stood up. "Why can't you accept rejection? I told you to go away, back to that little pit you crawled out of, but no. Are you just a glutton for stuff like that? Is that what gets you off? If that's the case, then I've got plenty of it here for you." I hissed again.
Ruby's hair began to stand on end, as did Weiss'. "Nyx! Stop!" Someone shouted. Ruby, seeing the sparks flying, tried to run. She activated her semblance, and began racing towards the door of the Mess Hall. I beat her to it. When she got there, I kicked her in the face, sending her flying into a table. I began walking towards her, but someone jumped on my back, restraining me on the floor. "Nora! Be careful!" A boy cried. I tried electrocuting the girl holding me down, but she just ignored it. If anything, she felt stronger.
Eventually, I gave up. I relaxed, and the girl picked me up. "I got him!" She exclaimed happily. "Put me down." I whispered. "Promise to chill out?" The boy asked. I nodded. Nora let me go. "You're with JNPR, right?" I asked. Nora nodded excitedly. I nodded, then turned away. I began walking back to my dorm room. "Aren't you gonna eat?" Nora asked, confused. "Y'know, seeing Ruby made me lose my appetite. I mean, would you be able to eat if you had seen something like that?" I asked. Nora looked confused, but then remembered my outburst the previous night.
"Oh. OK!" Nora said, turning around and eating a whole platter of pancakes. A small smile crept onto my face before I turned and left the room.
Ruby POV
"I don't understand. What happened between you three?" Weiss demanded. "Hey! Can't you see she's recovering?" Yang replied. "She's only hurt because she wouldn't leave Nyx alone." Blake said. "You weren't even there!" Yang exclaimed. "Yes I was. I sit in the back, remember?" Yang pondered this for a moment. Then she rolled her eyes, tossed her hair, then stormed out of the room, looking for something to hit. I sighed, and placed another ice pack on my head. When Nyx kicked me into the table, I hit my head on the edge of it.
"Why did you do what you did to him?" Weiss asked. I shrugged. "I guess you could say I was raised that way, to an extent. Yang and I don't hate him, but our parents told us to do it. So we did. Nyx became something akin to a living stress ball. Nothing more. But, a few days before Nyx ran away, I realized what we were doing was wrong. When he ran, I tried to catch up with him. Tell him how I felt." I said. "Felt about what?" Weiss pressed. "What we were doing to him. Where we'd gone wrong." I felt tears pricking my eyes.
"I wanted to tell him how I felt about him." Weiss' eyes widened. "But that's just....wrong." Weiss said. I nodded. "I know. But...I don't know, it was just a feeling. I love him. As more than a brother. But what we did to him...I don't think we deserve forgiveness. Not after the years of abuse. My feelings don't matter." I said. Weiss looked at me oddly. I hopped into my bed, turning away from the white-haired heiress.
A few minutes later, I heard Weiss sigh and leave the room. Shortly after, I fell asleep.
Weiss POV
As I exited the dorm room, Nyx walked by. "Hey, Nyx." I said. The boy turned, and nodded to me. "What do you need?" He asked. "Nothing. Just saying hello." I replied. "Hmm. OK. Oh, since you're here, can you help me study? Oobleck's class is killing me." Nyx said, scowling. I smiled. "OK. Wouldn't hurt to help you, would it?"
Nyx led me to his dorm and opened the door. Jaune was there, as well as Pyrrha. The two were sitting at a table that had been moved into the center of Nyx's room, studying. Pyrrha helped him with Oobleck's homework. "Please tell me Jaune isn't going to hit on me." I said, rolling my eyes. "Nah. I told him that if he tried, I'd zap him." Nyx replied, lightning arcing between his fingers. "You're...you're kidding, right?" I asked. "Maybe. But he doesn't need to know that." Nyx whispered. I giggled, then sat down. Nyx retrieved his work, and we got started.
Timeskip, 7:30 pm
"Finally. Jesus Christ, that took forever. Thank you so much, Weiss. If I pass this class, I will owe you a date." Nyx said. I blushed. "N-no, you d-don't need to do that. J-just a simple thanks w-works." I stuttered. Nyx took my hands. "I gotta thank you somehow, right?" He said, looking me in the eyes. I became a blushing, stuttering mess. Nyx grinned and let go of my hands.
"Looks like I melted the Ice Queen!" Nyx called to Pyrrha. The redhead gave him a thumbs-up before going back to helping Jaune. Still blushing, I looked away. "W-was all that a joke?" I demanded. "Well, if I pass this test, I really will take you to dinner as thanks." Nyx said, smiling. My entire face turned redder than red, and I dashed out of the room.
As I ran out, I heard Nyx laughing.
