"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

Mina stared down at the floor as she scampered her hands to work on drawing blood. She smiled up at the elder man in front of her. "Thank you so much, we'll have your test soon." He smiled kindly to her, unrolling his sleeve as Mina slipped from the hospital room.

She'd returned to work after D.C. She began to continue her job as a nurse and still worked at the VA, but on weekends. Mina had become more open about herself to the public as well at the VA. She told them about the two months of being captured.

She told them about loosing her squadron and how her life in the Marines were. Why she left. Mina wasn't saying anything about S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra though, that was all a secret. Nor was she trying to be nicer to everyone around her.

It's been a good year since D.C., the 'threat' of the Winter Soldier no longer heard off. He was long gone, but was an occasional nuisance to some Veteran's. Mina had been helping look for James with Sam and Steve, but refused to become an Avenger or move from the little home in D.C.

She hadn't heard from or of Natasha Romanoff since she left the three soldiers in the cemetery that day, a year ago.  She was once again the ghost that she tried so hard to keep to. Mina missed Nat, even if she wouldn't say it. The need to be around her more was becoming insufficient in her line of work.

She could almost still feel her heart begin to race every time she thought of Red's lips on her cheek. Hugging the short woman in her long arms. She missed the sensation she felt around her. Mina missed most the presence of Natasha. The Red head was easy to talk to and wouldn't take much to make her roll her eyes.

Her attitude and confident walk making Mina's chest ache.

"Hello, Earth to curly?" Megan asked, snapping her fingers in front of Mina's face.

Mina snapped out of it, grasping her friends wrist to stop the motion. Megan pulled away startled but still stared at Mina. "Oh, Sorry, habit."

"Habit?" Megan chuckled nervously. "You scared the living shit out of me."

Mina laughed with, rubbing the back of her neck and silently cursing herself. "What do you need?"

"I was trying to tell you that someone's looking for you." Megan spoke up. "Said something about being an old friend, plus your shifts over today."

"Yeah, thanks." Mina smiled. "See ya." She waved as Megan walked off in her bright pink scrubs.

Mina grabbed her jacket and satchel from her locker and walked into the Meto-hospital lobby. A bright flame of red made her heart ache, a smile slowly etching onto her face before they turned around. It was nobody she knew.

Mina knitted her face together before a hoodie came into her view, following behind her as she left the hospital. Mina walked to her car before turning and staring at the hoodie. "C'mon, I don't got all night." Mina sighed.
