Jeon Jungkook
I blushed bright red. I'm sure he could still tell even with the streetlight being the only source of light. No one has ever called me innocent. Not even my mom, who is the type of mom to cling onto their kids and make fools of them. I don't know why my heart is racing so much, or why I want him to keep calling me that.
"Th-thanks..." I mumbled. He chuckled to himself again.
"Jeon Jungkook, are you blushing?" He teased. I pulled my beanie down to cover my eyes. That made him laugh even more.
"Thanks for saving me on the bus, I would have gotten really hurt if you didn't pull me back." He said. I nodded. "Also, thanks for letting me steal your first kiss, rival." He laughed. I glared at him,
"How did you know that was my first kiss?" I demanded. He laughed even harder,
"You just told me, you idiot." He winked. I froze while standing on one foot on the curb.
"YA!!!" I shouted at him as he leaned against a stop sign to support himself from laughing too much. I smacked him with my beanie and stomped faster down the sidewalk.
"It's actually this way, moron." He pointed at the turn point. I snorted and stomped back towards him.
"I know I'm supposed to be your rival and everything, but I can't help and feel sorry that you live without your parents." I said. He nodded. "Can you tell me...?" I asked. He was silent. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I just wanted to start a conversation." I said quickly.
He chuckled dryly, "A funny way how to start a conversation, Jeon." He sighed, "I'll tell you, but only if you promise to act like a friend right now, and go back to being my rival tomorrow." He said.
"Aren't I doing that already?" I smiled. He raised one of his perfect eyebrows,
"Then you must be terrible at making friends, Jeon." He said. I shrugged.
"Anyway, you also have to promise that you will never bring up... the kiss, how my parents died, and the fact that I asked you to basically be friends with me." He said.
"I solemnly swear to never bring up the kiss, your parents' death, and the fact that you asked me to be your friend after school and your rival in school." I smiled and held up my left hand.
"You're supposed to hold up your right hand." He rolled his eyes. I quickly switched my hands.
"Actually the part about being my friend after school, is like you having a superhero identity. Normal, cocky Jeon Jungkook in the mornings. Friendly, kind Jungkook at night." Taehyung laughed. I snorted,
"Kind of." I smiled. He cleared his throat,
"My parents died in a car crash when I was 5 years old. Everyone else in the school thinks that my parents abandoned me. Which is really stupid. No one let me really explain how they died, they just assumed and the idea that they abandoned me stuck. Every prodigy must have some sad background, right?" He snorted.
"Your parents dying in a fucking car crash is already sad enough. What they say is completely fucked up." I protested. He nodded,
"I agree with you. My granny didn't just lose her grandson's parents, she also lost her only daughter that day, too. She had just lost her husband, my grandpa, to cancer. Now, she had to lose her only daughter that she prayed so hard to get." he said solemnly.
"Wait, what?" I blinked.
"My grandma was injured when she was a young girl, and the doctors who operated on her said that her percentage of having kids was only a 10% chance. So, when she got pregnant with my mom, she was overjoyed." He smiled sadly. I kicked a pebble across the street.
"So, enough about me... How about you?" He asked. I thought for a moment,
"Well, my parents are still treating me and my little bro like babies. They once made me wear protective headgear for a soccer game." I huffed. Taehyung burst out laughing. I could listen to that enchanting sound on repeat 24/7 and never get tired of it.
"It's true!! My mom even makes my little brother, who's in fucking middle school, dress up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for a costume party." I chuckled. Taehyung laughed even harder,
"Oh god, stop... stop... I'm dying..." He wheezed and held his side.
"And you know what else?! My dad gave me an Iron Man toy.... which I will like forever, but he got me a stuffie!" I exclaimed. Taehyung was dying for real now,
"Jeon... I can't... breathe!!" He wheezed again while wiping tears that streamed down his face. I was laughing along side him. He had to grab my shoulder for support as we walked towards his house. He took deep breaths, and fan his pink face with his hand,
"If I don't die of old age, it'll because of you not letting me breath." He poked my face. I laughed. He stared at me. "W-what is it? Do I have something on my face?" I asked nervously under his stare. He shrugged,
"I've never seen you this happy, Jeon Jungkook." He said. I blinked. He smiled his box smile, "It suits you. Smile more, ok?" He messed up my hair. I blushed lightly. Why was my heart beating so fucking fast? Was I.... am I slowly falling for a nerd? For my rival? There's no way, right? He's... he's probably fucking straight. Here I am daydreaming about having deeper feelings for Kim Taehyung while he's probably going to dream about some hot girl sucking face with him instead of me.
He pinched my cheek, "Hey, thanks for tonight. I really appreciate you walking all the way out here for me." He smiled. I nodded,
"No problem. I only want to do this because I worry about you sometime, Kim Taehyung. Even if you have a giant fucking brain up here, you may not be able to fight back if someone attacks you." I poked his nose. He crinkled his nose and laughed,
"You win this time, Jeon Jungkook. But I will get you back. I don't lose that easily." he teased.
"Are you actually serious? You want to take the Jeon Jungkook down?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I'll whup your ass in academics, Jeon." He said.
"And I'll whup yours in sports, Kim Taehyung." I said.
"We'll see. Good night, Jeon." he said. I nodded,
"Good night, Tae." I said. He smiled and waved as he went into his humble house. I waited until he was safely inside his house and went to the bus stop. Luckily, there was a bus waiting there for me. I got a phone call from my mom.
"Hello, mom." I answered.
"Jeon Jungkook, where are you?" she asked. She didn't sound upset, she was concerned.
"I was walking a close friend of mine to his house. He lived pretty far, so I thought that he may need someone to protect him on his walk home." I said.
I heard her smile through the phone, "Very well, he's just a friend?" She asked.
"Mom." I warned.
"Just asking, seems like you care for him-"
"MOM." I whined.
"Ah sorry, sorry. I was just teasing. Just come home safe ok? You father and I made curry." She said.
"Thanks, mom." I said.
"Just a friend?" She teased.
"MOoOoOoOM!" I hissed.
She laughed before hanging up. I placed my phone in my backpack and covered my red cheeks. Damn it... was I falling in love with my rival, Kim Taehyung? Damn it. Life kicks you in the butt pretty fucking hard.
