Chapter 5: Departure

I was all packed up ready to go home. Lin stood at the door "Hey Thayne, want me to drive you and Thayanne home?"
"Yeah, it be harder and dangerous if I just used my bike while Thayanne is sleeping," I said blankly, I didn't intended to I been off this past for days.
"Y/n isn't it?" Lin asked like he knew who was on my mind.
"Why wouldn't I be worried?! She's a million miles away from our daughter and me." I yelled Lin flinched he normally doesn't see me like this. I'm just worried. "I don't even know...if she's ok..."
"It's getting late now. Let's go then you can just tell in the car"

"Heard from y/n yet?" Lin ask as he takes a turn.
"Nothing...well not this past 3 months. I got a massage that she was camped near enemy lines. It's too dangerous for calls even send letters, it might give away their base" I answered looking out the window. I felt so distant to everyone, others were talking about it yesterday.

"I understand you Thayne. Its just normal, of course! I would go insane if i dont know where Vanessa is!"
Tears stream down my face. I just miss y/n so much. I want her here, here with me...safe and sound

"Lin she could be dead and dead being mad at me!" I screamed "its my own its my own stupidity that she was mad at me before she left...we fought before she left....she'll be gone...mad at my fucking stupid ass!"

"What happened?"

-5 years earlier-

Thayanne was only 2 at that time. I, on the other hand, was watching care bears with her while she sits in my lap. She looks at me then points at the cookies "did mama made this?" She said.
"yeah...mama made that! You want one?" Giving her a cookie then an idea popped inside my head. "Let's bake some for her so she'll be happy!" The two of us went to the kitchen, took some stuff from here and there. " OK! all ready! wanna start making cookies now Thayanne?" Thayanne clapped.

I took her to the kitchen, took some of this and some of that. Took the bowl and the whisk.
"Ok...I have the flour, the eggs, the chocolates..." I have everything I needed and we started to mix and bake. Thayanne drop some eggs and that's when

"Wait mommy can't have this flour... I'm goi-" I spilled on the eggs and covered the whole kitchen with flour.

The door rang and in comes (y/n)
"Panda I'm home! What-" she stands in awe as she sees Thayanne, the whole kitchen and I covered in flour

"Hi loves...you look lovely today...(please don't kill me)"

She just started laughing and ordered me and Thayanne to get cleaned and she'll be the one cleaning the kitchen. Once I and Thayanne are all cleaned up, we help out cook dinner and the cookies that turned out a bit burnt but it's so good!

We ate, y/n watched some news while Thayanne and I play. I looked at my wife, she looked so stressed and concerned about the news about the on going war. She stood up and went to our room. I thought nothing of it and just continued playing with Thayanne.

"Ok! it's already 9! Bed time" I said as I grabbed Thayanne, Change her to her pjs and tuck her in.

I tried to be sneaky and said to (y/n) "babe! Thayanne's asleep! Wanna make another -" (y/n) was packing her stuff and everything.
"Sorry babe not tonight" she said as she fix her stuff.
"Babe what's this?" As I try to figure out if this has something to do with the war.
"I'm sorry babe... it's last minute and tommorow I have to go to Iran."
I started to feel as if the room was getting darker and smaller.. I thought I didn't hear it right when she said she's going to Iran.

"You're kidding, right? You're not going to the war leaving me and Thayanne behind right?" I said

She just looked at me with those (eye color)ed eyes, she's not joking. "So you're just going to leave? You're just going to throw those past years we been together?" I asked with the pain in my heart that she'll be away.

"Panda...I really can't-"

"So you rather rush to go somewhere else thousands of miles away from me and 2 years old daughter!?? then what!? Get shot in the head?! blown in pieces!??" My pain now turning in anger

"Thayne you know I can't fucking say no! They'll throw me in fucking jail!" She shouted. "I know this is a risk but I don't have any choice!"

"You're fucking selfish! You don't fucking care how it will affect me or Thayanne!" I was boiling with anger and frustration. (Y/n) flinch because she never seen me get mad before, tears flow down because I know I hurt her badly.

"If you don't give a shit about us just leave"

"Daddy?" Thayanne cried out she must have woken up and must have seen (y/n) and I fighting. I immediately hug her and calmed her down. "Don't cry shhh... don't cry... mommy and daddy is just having some grown-up talk"
I tucked her in and sang her a lullaby.

"Daddy is mama going to leave us?" Thayanne perked quitely
"Yes"
"Doesn't she love us anyone? Why is she leaving? Did I became a bad girl?" Thayanne now couldn't stop crying

"No... mama has to go for work....she loves you and me...She got to be a hero...mama always loves you ok!" She cried herself to sleep. I didn't get to sleep that much that night because I thought I will lose the love of my life. The next day the first thing I did after I wake up is ran towards our room, maybe she's still there! But

The room was empty and in middle of the bed was a hand written letter from her.

".....I don't have the strength to even read it...even till now!" I bellowed to Lin. He pats me in the back reassuring everything will be alright

"Hey let's just listen to the radio to calm you down" as he pressed the button I heard the most chilling news

"Breaking news: American military base located near the terrorist groups in Iran was bombed according to sources about 1,000 troops was injured along with 15 critically in danger including lieutenant (y/n) Jasperson who was targeted for her espionage in the terrorist group work that helped with the raid last week...."

I thought I died....
