Trappped /Shawmila

Chapter 7

I was sitting outside, on the porch of Shawn's house, with my hands on my face, waiting for my mom to come pick me up.

Water was trickling down my cheek. It appeared that the source of the water was my eyes. I wiped off the water on my cheek for the hundredth time. I couldn't believe this was happening. How could I embarrass myself like this? 

It felt like the world had ended. Many people said I overreacted in these types of situations, but embarrassment was truly my greatest fear. I felt so lost and alone. 

It was dark now, with only a few streetlights and the moon giving out a hint of light. The cool September air made me realize that I should've gotten a jacket.

I glanced at my phone again. It was 7 PM. My mom said that she'd be here in fifteen minutes, so I had to sit around like a loner for that amount of time.

"Hey," Shawn said as he closed the door of his house behind him, making his way over to me. "I'm really sorry about what happened back there. We shouldn't have put a lot of pressure on you."

"Its okay," I said in a quiet voice. "I'm the one who stormed off in the middle of my audition, it isn't your fault." I gave him a small smile. "I've gotten used to it by now."

Shawn gave me a look of sympathy. "Well, I would've loved it if I had actually heard your voice."

I rubbed my hands together because of my nervousness. "I would've loved it if you had heard my voice too." I gave him a small smile.

"So, why didn't you sing then?"

"Its just that," I sighed. "I get really nervous around people. All I could think of when I was in front of you guys was how you would all just laugh at me and ridicule me for, you know..."

"For looking at everyone like you'd seen a ghost and running away?" Shawn said, a hint of a smirk on his face.

"No!" I said, laughing. " I was going to say 'for singing badly', but I guess what I did didn't help it either." 

"You guess?" Shawn laughed. "You should've seen the look on your face. I swear, if I had posted a video of what you did on YouTube I would've been a millionaire by now."

"Stop." I said, burying my face in my hands. "I can't stop thinking about it. Gosh, I am so embarrassed."

Shawn took my hands and pulled them away from my face. " Hey, don't say that," His eyes suddenly widened. "You know what? I have a plan."

"A... plan?" I was confused.

"Yeah," He said, with a big smile on his face. "Make a list of all the things that are out of your comfort zone. That is the first step."

"What's the second step, then?" My confusion wasn't getting any less.

"We do them."

"We?"

"Yeah, every day, you and I get to do one of the things on your list." His smile didn't falter. What was it with this guy and his smiling? "And, if you manage to erase your stage fright after you complete the things, we might let you join our band."

"But," I said, thinking over the idea. " You never even heard my voice."

"Oh trust me, I've heard it." He gave me a wink and then left, leaving me dumbfounded.

This chapter is so short, but its so important. This chapters tells you whats about to happen in the next chapters.
