About Time (James Potter X Arabel)

'Okay, please let this work' Arabel thought as she pronounced the incantation. As she closed her eyes, she felt her bones shifting and her skin ripping causing her to scream out in pain. Her scream soon turned into a roar.

Opening her eyes, Arabel saw that she was shorter and could see clearer. Walking towards the stream that ran in the Forbidden Forest, Arabel stepped back in bewilderment at what she saw.

I did it.. I actually did it! She thought to herself as she saw the tan fur with black streaks going down from her head to her chest. She didn't miss how her eyes were now golden with a speck of purple in them.

I can't wait to tell Lily, Remus, James, and Sirius! She thought before transforming back with less difficulty. Running towards the castle, Arabel smiled as she was different from her patronus. Her patronus was a doe and her animagus was a lion, who would've thought?

Time skip ~ Fifth year

"And Gryffindor takes the lead with two hundred and eighty points. Look at Arabel Winston go! She's a mighty fine Quidditch captain and seeker, James buddy if you dont ask her out soon I will. I mean she is one fine piece of-"

Arabel laughed as she heard Professor McGonagall fussing at Sirius for inappropriate behaviour. Arabel soon caught sight of the snitch but so did Slytherin's captain. Racing against each other, Arabel dived for the snitch as the Slytherin seeker tried to push her off her broom. Catching it in her hands she landed right back on her broom and landed on the ground as everyone congratulated her.

"Gryffindor wins against Slytherin four hundred and thirty to three hundred and twenty." Madam Hooch called out. Once everyone left the stadium and Arabel had changed into more civilian like clothes. She caught up with James, Remus, Sirius, and Lily.

"That was bloody brilliant! The way you dove off your broom, you're crazy. You know that?" James laughed as he pulled Arabel into a side hug, both blushing but not realizing the others feelings. As James turned to Lily, Remus, and Sirius he saw them motion him with their hands for him to go on.

"Arabel, I have a question." He mumbled softly, his soft brown eyes looking everywhere but at her as his messy brown hair got even messier as he kept messing with it. "Yes James?" Arabel asked as she ran a hand through her long black hair, her purple eyes scanning James face for a telltale sign of what he was going to ask.

"Well.. um... would you, I know it's short notice but would you like to go to the Winter formal with me? As friends and only if you want to, of course." Arabel smiled but her smile faltered slightly when he said 'as friends'. "Uh.. yeah! See you tomorrow." With that, Arabel kissed his cheek and ran off with Lily behind her.

"Ooh, someone's in love." Sirius joked with James, poking his cheek as James rolled his eyes and swatted at him. "Shut up snuffles." Sirius then chased after James who took off, Sirius yelling after him that he was going to end him. "I ask for normal friends, that's all." Remus whispered under his breath before chasing after them.

The next night, Arabel was getting ready with James. "Why dont you just go out with him already?" Lily complained as she fixed her red hair into an elegant bun as she slipped on a black dress. Arabel sighed. "Lils, you know I want him to ask me on a date first." Lily nodded then shrugged. "Well I'm heading down, see you there." Lily then left, leaving Arabel by herself to get dressed.

Arabel first did her hair which was in a curly half up half down do. She then went with natural makeup. Slipping on her red dress that tied around her neck in a comfortable way then slipping on her sparkly black heeled pumps with red on the bottom, she felt ready to go. As she went into the great hall, all eyes fell on her.

When she started descending the stairs, she saw James at the bottom with his hand outstretched for her to take. Taking it with a smile, she let him lead her to the dance floor. "You look beautiful." James whispered to her as she saw her friends clapping and Sirius attempting to whistle until Remus stopped him.

"You dont look too bad yourself." Arabel told James who smirked at her words. "I got you something." Raising an eyebrow, Arabel waited for James to get whatever was in his pocket out. Suddenly she gasped as he handed her a small bag. "James, you shouldn't have..." she whispered, her purple eyes shining like a million stars.

"Well I did." He grinned as he offered her one of her favorite candies in the world; Strawberry Sugar Quills. Grinning, Arabel took one and began happily licking it. After she was done, her and James danced the night away, not realizing the other had feelings for them, once again.

Skip to last hogsmeade before spring break

"James just ask her. She's bound to give up on you if you don't." Sirius tried to reason with James who paced nervously in the Gryffindor common room. "It's last minute and I'm scared she wont feel the same." James confided in Sirius. James had been pacing the common room for the past five minutes until Lily grabbed his shoulders and stopped him.

"Grow some balls and ask her or I'll call you whorestag." Lily threatened, making James eyes go wide. "Okay okay I'll do it, just don't call me that. Gives me a bad reputation." James muttered to which Remus rolled his eyes. "Just ask the girl." James nodded and was about to say something but was stopped by someone clearing their throat from the girls dormitory stairs.

"Ask what girl what question?" Arabel asked, raising an eyebrow. Everyone turned to James who fidgeted nervously. "Arabel, I have a question." At that exact moment, Arabel felt her heart beat quicken and her palms start to sweat. "Yes James?" She asked as if nothing was wrong.

"Will you um... God why is this so hard." He muttered to himself as Arabel stared on in confusion. "James, just say it." Arabel calmly stated as she put a hand on James. Looking up into her eyes, James nodded. "Will you go to hogsmeade with me?"

It was silent as Arabel stared wide eyed. After a minute of silence, James nodded his head again. "It was a bad idea to ask. I'm sorry." When he went to walk away though, he was stopped. "James, I wasnt rejecting you. You just caught me off guard. Of course I'll go to hogsmeade with you." Grinning, Arabel kissed his cheek and began to walk away. As James touched his cheek where she kissed him, she turned her head slightly before smirking as she said "About time."
