Okay, it will be okay this apartment will finally be the one, you wont be sleeping on Mia's couch anymore or having to here her boyfriend yell about the game in the next room. God that was annoying.
I am currently taking the C train to lower east Manhattan to look at my 6th studio apartment this week, it is only Tuesday. All I need is my own place I mean I'm 20 years old I have steady gigs across the city and my publishing job at NYC books&Inc. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself.
the train makes a hard break and my head smack against the subway pole
"Fuck."
I hurry up and lift my head to see if anyone herd me. No one seemed to be paying any attention except for the guy in a seat next to me who is giving me an amused grin and I was not.
As I climbed off the train I could tell that today was not going to be a good day. It was only 10am I need a cup of coffee and some ibuprofen.
I stopped at Starbucks and CVS then went to the apartment complex that I was hoping to be calling home. When i walk in to the lobby there is a bald plump man sitting behind the desk.
" You must be Cooper ,looking at apartment 79d"
"Yep, that's me." I give him a polite smile.
"Well follow me" I did as he said and went across the lobby and got in the elevator with him
"This apartment has been vacated for three mounts due to a happy couple becoming engaged." he smiled, he looks as if he genuinely cares about the people who live here which is reassuring. Right after that the elevator dinged and the doors opened. The friendly man led me down the hall 9 doors to the left and took a key out of his back pocket to unlock it. Next thing I know was that the door was open exposing a beautiful apartment.
" If you need me i will be in the hall, I figured I would let you explore by yourself.""Thank you so much." I say with a friendly smile.
There is a little kitchen area and the bathroom is a decent size and the living room had a futon still wrapped which ment it was new and a flat screen TV. There was also a bay window with bookshelf's around it complementing the exposed brick wall behind it. I loved and this place and it was definitely in my price range. After sitting on the island and trying out one of the bar stools i walked out in to the hallway.
" I'll take it."

I have the last of my stuff in this backpack for my new studio apartment. Collage was fun in the dorms making friends then moving in with Mia but I'm ready to be out on my own now be my own person. I get off the subway and walk three blocks down with my backpack with the last of my stuff. When I enter my building, I decide to take the stairs to my apartment. Apparently I wasn't the only one who wanted to take the tiny three flights of stairs that's because I run right into a firm chest, and almost fall down The stairs till a big hand grabs my wrist.
"Umm I'm sorry about that... Are you okay."I look up to see big brown eyes staring at me.
" Umm, I'm fine." I tuck a price of hair behind my ear before looking at my feet.
" Hi fine I'm Oliver."
I look up at him and smile
"Is a dad joke really your attempt at flirting?" He smiles at me with humor in his eyes.
"Did it work?" He questions by raising his eyebrows
"Maybe" I smile at him
"What flor do you live on." the new man Oliver asks
"Floor C. What floor do you live on?"
"C." His smile grows at his reply
"Well I guess I will see you around Oliver " I smile and brush past him, as I walk up the stairs and watch as his eyes fallow me up the stairs.Soon I make it to my apartment I unlock the door to throw my bag on the kitchen counter and flop on my futon. I start to unpack because it's only 4. When did I get so much shit I mean I have been living in a small room sense collage and I still manage to fill up my whole closet with stuff leftover. I start to get hungry and the realization hits me that I haven't went shopping yet.
" why must I forget about the importance things." With the shake of my head I grab my bag and my keys to go get some food. As I lock my door the one a crossed from me opens."Hey Oliver, right?" I ask
"Oh yeah I never got your name though." He looks at me with a confident smirk.
"Oh sorry yeah I'm Cooper" I say shyly
"Where you going?" Oliver asks with curiosity glistening in his eyes
"I was just gonna go get some food because I haven't gone shopping yet." We stand there for a second.
"Well I was gonna go get some Chinese? But Only if you want to I mean you don't have to go , maybe we can get to know each other better"his words brings out a smile and a slight blush to my face hoping he doesn't notice I look at the floor.
"Yeah that would be great" he smiles back at me and I feel my heart beat a little bit faster, I find myself hoping his does too. I think Oliver will be around for a while.
