Kaira eyes snapped open. She looked around.
Am I in Heaven?
Heaven...it's so beautiful...
She tried to move her body but she felt a jolt of pain up her right arm.
Nope, definitely NOT heaven.
She sighed. She looked up at the clear blue sky. She closed her eyes, embracing the peace. Rays of sun shot through the thicket of leaves, leaving a warm trace on Kaira's face. She barely had moments like these, with the busy apprentice life and magic world of hers always eating up her time. A calming breeze washed over Kaira and a smile formed on her face.
Today is nice out. Maybe I'll go check this place out and try to figure out where I am...
Kaira opened her eyes. They were glimmering emerald, like the color of the forest tops after a rainy day. She stood up and brushed off the dirt on her pants. "Just a minor cuts and bruises." She shrugged. "I should be fine." As she began her stroll, she heard rustling of leaves, not from the winds. She hid behind an old wall, covered in vines and moss and pulled her hood up. Suddenly, a boy leaped over the wall. Their eyes met, a clash of oceanic blue and emerald green. The boy lost his balance and skidded onto the dirt, face first. Kaira let out a small giggle. "Ouch.." The boy rubbed his neck and sat up. He brushed off the dirt and muck from his face. His eyes fell on Kaira. "Never seen you around before." He said, his voice light. Kaira's heartbeat quickened.
Who is this boy? And..what does he want?
Their eyes met. A soft breeze ruffled his hair, making him look like a child. He ran a finger along his hair and combed it back but a rebellious strand fell on his forehead. "What is your name?" He asked, a playful smile on his lips. Kaira pretended to think. "Hmm, why should I tell you?" She said with teasing eyes. The boy stared at her, his blue eyes wide. Then he laughed. It was a warm, rich sound that Kaira got addicted to. "Ah, Pretty and Witty." The boy chuckled. Kaira turned pink and looked away, unable to meet his eyes. He looked at Kaira with sparkling eyes and a soft smile. "The name's Arthur. It's a pleasure to meet you." Arthur said, kneeling and sticking his hand out in a formal handshake. "Nice to meet you too, Arthur. They call me Kaira, but right now, I would call myself 'lost'". She too sticked her hand out. But Arthur nimbly took her hand and brought it to his lips. "What a beautiful name you have." And kissed it. Kaira stared at him in shock before turning bright red. She hurriedly tried to cover her face but failed miserably as Arthur caught her eye and winked at her. Arthur helped her up, her face was still as bright as a tomato but her lips curving to a smile. "Alright, follow me. I'll provide you shelter and you can tell me all about how you wounded up into my world." Arthur said, holding Kaira's hand and gently squeezing it. Kaira relaxed and followed him, not knowing her life was about to take another turn.
