Screams flooded the place I would never call home

Whip

I was so done, the screams created noise and the noise created terrible silence. Shouting and crashing and sobbing that shouldn't be present danced along as if it were a game. It wasn't.

Sob

Whip

Crash

Smash

I begun to gather my clothing and essentials along with food into a backpack. I'm not staying here anymore, it's not safe. My phone quietly pinged in the darkest hours of the night. I told him I would be leaving for a while. He told me not to leave him like every thing he knew was broken pieces on the ground, except me.

I'm sorry

The wind thrashed against my skin as I ran though the good-for-nothing town I once new. I turned for a second to look back, the street lights and small town houses stood as if they're caving in on me. The sidewalks glimmered in the moonlight as the trees leaned in to protect the grass from the soft rainfall. I spun around and headed toward the highway, still as busy during the night as the day. Standing in the cold rain and whipping wind, hands waving in the air for hours it's seemed; finally someone pulled over.

"Do you think you could take me to Naples, Florida?" The old man with a beer gut grinned, his teeth glinting by the moon's light.

He sighed, "You're lucky that's where I was heading. You mine as well sleep while you can, this won't take long." I hopped in, nodding my head quietly. The streetlights cut off as we slid into the countryside, my eyelids drooping unwillingly.

I should stay strong.

Before I knew it, I was asleep in the silence of the night.
