I woke up to see darkness around me and that I was in bed. 'Yakov must've come to check up', I thought as I looked at the alarm to see it was three in the morning. I got to my feet and the pain wasn't that noticeable then. So I redressed my wound and got back to the info I've managed to get from the old documents the previous day. It was very confusing at first but slowly light shone on things I didn't expect.
Then a while after I saw the horizon was flushed crimson and started to get ready to go outside. But according to what Yakov said unless I'm a maid I won't be able to pretend to work as women don't work in Sybil. That came as a shock to hear and witness but I really did think the practice should be reformed.
I was about to step outside of my room in the maids dress when Yakov walked in with a rather young and handsome man although he had a fierce aura. He was holding a tea tray and looked like a butler.
"Morning, Isabella. How's the wound?"
"Good morning! A lot better, thanks to you!"
"You should hardly thank me", he said with a wry smile and seeing me trying to protest changed the topic.
"By the way, this is Sergei, he's like a brother to me and the friend I mentioned", he said voice was full of pride and I could see the trust and the bond between them.
"Nice to meet you, Sergei. And thanks for agreeing to help."
"Nice to meet you too,Miss Meinhalt. And no need to thank me. The men have already departed and I'll be joining them today." We then sat at the sofa sipping the tea. Yakov turned to me with serious eyes.
"Please reconsider it, Bella. At least take me or Leffe with you." I remembered Leffe to be the butler who accompanied Yakov to the airport.
"No, besides I don't want to cause more trouble than I already did."
"Get over with that phrasing already. And you're taking someone or I'm calling Prince Keith and sending you back."
"Hey...! You're blackmailing me now?! God, yesterday you'd have been shot! Can't you see that?!"
"And what if I was? You won't be like this now." He said crossing his arms. We were arguing about the discussion we had during dinner the bygone day. He stubbornly refused me going alone but I was dead set too.
"I don't care and I was prepared when I decided to come. And not to mention you two would draw a lot of attention."
"I'll be in disguise. Or are you saying a maid asking about directions to the place she works will be less conspicuous than me?", he smirked at me much to my chagrin. "Not to mention you're just seventeen."
"That again...?!"
"It won't do for you with the very less time we have to spend the day searching Sybil, will you?"
He has a point there and I definitely don't know what is where. Thus I ended up going with Yakov in his so called disguise.
"Honestly, anyone could figure out you're the Prince of Sanct Sybil", I spoke in a hushed tone as we ducked behind a vehicle."Yeah, only if you say it a bit more loud", he said calmly and I rolled my eyes. He was disguised as a woman too, in maids uniform. I agree he could pass for a charming lady to a stranger but not to his enemies, the Gustavs.
