*Six Months Ago*

I sat in the darkened alleyway trying to compose myself to the best of my ability. I could hear the faint thrum of the bass as people entered and exited the club next to me. I looked up toward the darkening sky and an eerie feeling began to wash over my body. I needed to keep moving or else they will find me. I took in a deep breath before breaking cover and began running once more. I could hear the sound of dogs howling in the distance as I continued my pace. I weaved in and out of crowds of Friday night partiers. I nearly collided with a group of drunk girls, but dodged out of their way at the last second. I glanced back which was a huge mistake because I ended up colliding with a man who was pissed out of his mind drunk. He began slurring curses at me as I picked myself up and began running again. I had caught a slight glimpse of a shadow weaving in and out of the alleyways. I picked up speed as I neared my destination. The howling began to intensify as I burst through the metal gates of the cemetery I had been looking searching for. I turned sharply and closed the gates. A shadowy being rammed into the gate and I could hear a faint scream leave its ghostly form.

I bent over and tried my best to catch my breath. The shadow swirled around for awhile before disappearing into thin air. I sighed as I finally caught my breath and began heading deeper into the cemetery. I veered off of the path and started wandering among the different tombstones. I made it to a small clearing and found an old oak tree standing tall and proud in the middle of the clearing. As I got closer, I felt a strong aura emanating from the tree. I kneeled down by the large roots and reached into my bag and pulled out a rusty garden shovel. I began digging around the roots until the shovel hit something metal. I quickly swept the dirt away until a metal lunch box appeared from the earth. I picked up the box and opened the lid. I smiled as I looked at the contents of the box. I reached inside and lifted a small silver locket and held it up toward the moonlight. I light bounced off of the smooth surface and soon the entire clearing began to glow brightly.

I placed the box down gently before standing up to look around the clearing. Everything within the lights reach turned into a snowy white plain. It looked unnatural the way the foliage was glowing brightly. I felt my body tense as a sharp pain coursed through my body and my vision began to become rather blurry. I closed my eyes and leaned against the tree for support.

"Open your eyes child," said a heavenly voice. I slowly opened my eyes and was surprised to see a woman standing several feet away from me. She had long blonde hair that cascaded down her back. She was wearing a white dress that flowed around her narrow form. Her pale blue eyes stared at me as a small smile overtook her face.

"Come closer child," she said in that heavenly voice again. I swallowed nervously as I took a few hesitant steps towards her.

She stared at me for a moment before saying, "You seem lost." I nodded my head but remained silent.

"I can see it in your eyes. You try to remember but can't. If only I had been there to stop what has already transpired."

I hesitated for a moment before finally finding my voice, "What am I to do? I'm being chased every day. I have no time to rest. The worst thing is that my vision is starting to worsen once more. In a few more weeks I believe I will be blind once again."

The woman approached me with a soft smile adorning her face. "All will be revealed child, but you must first focus on the task at hand. You must find them. They are the only ones who can face this evil that lurks in the shadows. They are the only ones that can solve all your problems." The woman gave me a slight squeeze on my shoulder before turning on her heels and walking toward the darkening outskirts of the clearing.

"Who am I supposed to find," I called after her. She simply waved her hand in farewell before being swallowed by the darkness. The illuminating clearing returned back to normal. I looked around trying to figure out what to do next when my eyes landed on the metal box. I bent over and picked up the box once more. I looked inside and found a small journal. I took out the book and sat down underneath the tree and opened the book. The handwriting was difficult to translate out, but my saving grace was a rather old tattered photograph. I picked up the photograph and stared at the picture. It was black and white and it had seen better days, but it clearly illustrated twelve guys. Each one had different expressions but it was obvious that they all knew one another. I shoved the picture back in the book before placing it in my bag.

I rummaged through the box once more to find anything else that would be helpful before returning the box back to the hole it had came from. I covered it back up with dirt before placing my shovel back into my bag. I stood up and examined the locket once more. I sighed as I unclasped the silver metal and placed it around my neck. The silver was cool against my skin and it sent a slight shiver down my spine. I collected myself before leaving the clearing. I walked back towards the gate and stopped. I took in a deep breath and looked toward the star filled sky.

"Here goes nothing," I muttered under my breath before pushing through the metal gate and taking off running into the night.
