*Present Day*
"I just can't understand why you can't loosen up and have a bit of fun for one night." I rolled my eyes as I stared at MinJee.
"You know the reason to why I don't leave the house at night."
She rolled her eyes, "You know you are lucky that we are good friends, or I would have kicked you out of this apartment months ago."
I sighed as I continued to wash the dishes in the sink. I have been in and out of the apartment for the past six months and it seemed to have taken a drastic effect on MinJee and her so called social life. It had something to do with her motherly instincts and worry over me, even though we both knew she could give two fucks about me. I sighed as I finished the last of the dishes and dried my hands. I walked to my room and closed the door quietly behind myself. I reached into my bedside table and pulled out the journal that I had found six months ago. I sat at the end of my bed and began going through the different entries. I was still having a hard time deciphering the handwriting. It was honestly like someone didn't want anyone to read what was in the book. I was so absorbed into the book, that the sharp knocking on my door startled me.
"Yeah?" The door creaked open and my roommate peered through the crack at me.
"I'm leaving. Try not to bore yourself to death." I simply smirk and nodded my head before she closed the door once again. I heard her heels as they headed toward the front door. Soon the door opened the closed and I was plunged into silence once more. I sighed as I went back to examining the page I was on in the journal. I stared at a word that had caught my eye. I squinted to see if I could make out the text. "K..k..ka..Kai?" All of a sudden, I heard a knock on the front door. I placed the journal down on the bed and left my room. The knocking continued as I approached the door. As I neared the door the knocking stopped. I looked through the peephole to find that no one was there. I sighed and turned to only gasp as a man stood there in front of me looking rather confused.
"Who the fuck are you and how did you get in here," I managed to scream out toward the strange man in my apartment. The man looked at me then around the space he was standing in.
He looked back toward me before saying, "I heard my name and somehow ended up here." I stared at him in disbelief. Before I could say anything, the man walked toward me and hovered over me.
"You seem oddly familiar," he muttered as he stared at me with his chocolate brown eyes. I could honestly say the same thing about the man. He looked familiar to me but I couldn't place where I had seen him before. He shook his head as if clearing his thoughts before stepping away from me and walking farther into my apartment.
"Hey you need to leave," I called after him as I chased after him. He stopped in the living room and looked around.
"You have a nice place," he stated before walking over to the couch and sitting down. I stared at him in bewilderment. He shrugged out of the beige colored trench coat he was wearing.
"I'm going to ask you once again. Who the fuck are you," I tried asking in a calm voice but it came out more forced. He looked over toward me before simply answering with, "Kai." My eyes widened to the size of dinner plates.
"That can't be," I whispered. I moved quickly from the living room and I could feel Kai's eyes following after me. I went into my room and grabbed the journal. I flipped open to the page that held his name and to my surprise the page was easier to read than before.
"What's that," said a voice behind me. I let out a small yelp as I turned to find Kai standing by my doorway staring at me curiously. I hid the journal behind my back as I stared at him.
"Get out," I said with venom in my voice. He simply stared at me before walking into my room toward me. I held my breath as he towered over me and peered down at me through the strands of his dark brown hair. I couldn't move. It was almost like I was in some sort of a trance. The next thing I knew he had reached behind me and snatch the journal out of my hands. I tried reaching for it but he simply took a step back and turned his back on me.
"Where did you get this," he asked as he flipped through the pages.
"None of your business," I replied as I tried to reach for it again. He simply shook me off and continued to flip through the pages of the journal.
"Weird," he muttered to himself before turning to face me. He stared at me for a moment before holding the journal out for me. I quickly grabbed it and held it against my chest.
"You should make sure that you keep that book safe." I simply nodded as I stared at him. He sighed before turning on his heels and walking back out to the living room. I quickly shoved the journal into my bed side table before chasing after him. He had picked up his trench coat and was putting it on.
"Have you eaten," he asked once his coat was fully on. I rose an eyebrow in confusion.
"Excuse me?" He chuckled as he fixed his collar as he asked again, "Have you eaten?" I shook my head slightly and watched as he walked toward the front door.
"Well come on then," he said before opening the front door and disappearing out into the hallway. I don't know what came over me but I followed the strange man. I grabbed my coat and bag and quickly squeezed into my shoes before following him out into the hallway.
