When María walked in, an old lady that took care of her when she was younger approached her and greeted her. "Mija, I saw you with that man over there." Rutila said to María while hugging her. "It's nothing he is just a friend." Maria responded while smiling. "Are you sure? You seem very happy." Rutila giggled and grabbed María by the arm. They walked together to the front of the church and knelt down. "Let's pray mija." Rutila said and they both looked down with their eyes closed. Rutila started praying and both were holding their rosaries. María started to think about her husband and her two children. She thought about what their future was going to be. She thought about the absence of her husband almost every day. She thought if she was going to be able to take care of her two children without him. She kept thinking about that and Rutila kept praying. "Dios mío, please take care of María's family and her husband and please bring more strength to María because I know she needs it. She needs more strength than what she already has." Rutila said and put her left hand on María's shoulder. María cried and said, "Thank you God." When Rutila finished her prayer, she stood up and helped María get up as she struggled to. Rutila hugged María and held her head with her soft old hands. "Everything is okay, María." Rutila said and María smiled at her and they sat in the front of the church to have a conversation with God. María stared at the face of God. She observed everything about God. Every detail. She observed his scars, the blood running down his face and hands, the crown made of thorns and the cross. She observed his face. He was suffering. Then he turned to see Virgin Mary. She seemed to be suffering as well. Mary was looking at God while holding her child. María then stood up and walked towards the cross. "God, please, help me." María stared at him one more time and after minutes, she turned around and walked away. The big wooden doors slammed behind her and she slowly walked home alone. When she arrived home, she realized she forgot about meeting with Roberto, but she did not worry about it and sat in front of the fireplace, waiting for her husband.
