Sitting at the lakes shore, Aiya sat with a book in her hand and her ipod on shuffle next to her side. Though she was engrossed in her copy of Alice in Wonderland, every now and then she would glance up and watch as random people would dash into the water and complain about it being cold, yet stay in it anyways.

She was 14 now, with long golden hair down to her back and bright brilliant blue eyes. A tanish tint to her skin showed that she had been outside a lot over the summer and the light makeup on her face gave clues that she wasn't obsessive on how she looked.

"Hey, watch out!" Aiya looked up just in time to see a large blownup beach ball heading towards her. Using her book to protect her, it bounced off the binding and landed with a thud in front of her. Frowning, she grabbed the ball and looked around for the owner.

"S-Sorry." Panted a boy around her age as he approached her. "I didn't mean to hi-" He stopped as he saw who it was. "Oh." Aiya sighed and threw the ball towards him. He caught it with both hands but continued to stare at her. A smirk krept over his lips.

"What? All alone, Aiya?" he asked her. She rolled her eyes.

"Obviously. I don't talk to invisible people." He danced his eyebrows.

"Wouldn't put it past a freak like you to turn to imaginary friends."

"Just go away Payton." She turned a page in her book, hoping he actually would. Instead, his face showed up inches from hers.

"I don't appreciate that tone."

"Then how about this one?" She stuck her tounge out at him, then went back to her book. She only was able to read a few lines, however, when she found herself upside down. "Payton!" She yelled, struggiling as he held her effortlessly over his shoulder. "PUT ME DOWN!"

"No. I think a little swim will teach you better mannors, freak." Aiya dropped the book and it splattered to the sand as she continually hit his back with her fists. But he was a buff, jock guy that took the hits as if she was tickiling him.

Aiya froze as the waves grew closer, watching as her most favorite thing in the world swirlled like a vortex before her. "Put me down! Put me down!!"

"alright." He said cockily, adjusting her slightly as he stepped into the water. "I'll put you down." getting a good grip on her, he picked her up higher and tossed her towards the center of the lake. Aiya screamed and sunk into the water.

For a moment she just floated in the water, feeling so much more comfortable then she had felt up on the shore. Still, she was human and needed to breathe, so she kicked her legs and broke the surface.

The first thing she heard was laughter. blinking through water droplits, Aiya saw that Payton was no longer alone and was surrounded by six others. Aiya glared at them, her anger boiling. How could they be so mean to her? what had she possibly done to earn such treatment?

She smirked at herself. Was that even really a question? She was a witch. She'd never be able to stand on the same level as them. They were like a differnet class. What they classified as freakish, she thought of as wonderous... beauitiful.. magical.

Ducking her head down low, Aiya's hair surrounded her like snakes as the water oddly boiled, despite being cool. The bubles moved forward, picking up water as it went until a small wave was emerging to the people laughing at her.

The laughter stopped as their expressions changed to horror. As if connected to her via another level, the water rose above them, the raced forward, drenching them.

"Freak!" Screamed a girl, and soon other voices followed. She was called many hurtful things as they ran away.

Slowly, aiya rose out of the water and walked towards the shore, her hair covering her face. Sand stuck to her feet as she walked. Still, she didn't stop to wipe it off. Instead, she shoved her ipod into her pocket and grabbed her book and hugged it to her chest.

She walked like this all the way home. Stopping on her welcome mat, she took a deep breath, pushed back her hair, and smiled. It was a believable smile, one that looked like she had a good time at the beach. Reaching for the handle, she pulled open the door and walked into the living room.

"Aiya!" turning around, she saw her older brother, Charlie, come towards her with excitment. "Guess what-woah your wet." He backed away. "Ew."

"Jerkk.." She stuck out her tounge at him, purposely getting him wet as she shook her head.

"Don't do that!" He jumped away, clutching a letter. "fine. maybe i won't show you now." Though her brother was 20 now, he still acted as though he was five.

"Sorry Charlie!" She pouted, putting on her baby face. "Now what is it?"

"It came."

"What did?"

"Your letter." he held it up and she read the address. "To: Aiya Storm From: Mystal, School of Magic" she quickly had to force back tears.

"I made it!" She shouted, jumping into her brother's arms, hugging him tightly. "I'm accepted!"

"I'm happy for you, Aiy." He whispered, petting her hair.

Finally. It was a place she could be with people like her. People with magic. People who wouldn't call her a freak. People who understood how her magic was suppose to work. People who may actually want to call her 'friend'.
