Sam woke up at 3:25 a.m to the sound of knocking at his bedroom door.
Who could possibly be at my door this early in the morning?
He got up from his bed and stood up yawning, getting ready to walk over to the door. He started dragging his feet to the door and when he got to the door he heard a faint "Sam!"
That sounded like Colby. What is he doing?
He opened the door to see Colby standing there, looking a little scared.
"What, Colby" said Sam sounding angry but not meaning to.
"I-I saw something..." Colby stuttered. This scared Sam and woke him up a lot more. They just played The Midnight Man the night before.
"What?? What did you see?" Sam said, now a little louder.
"I don't know, but I knew you played The Midnight Man last night, with Corey and Kat and Jake, so I was gonna ask you what happened when you were playing. Or if you saw anything." He hesitated for a moment.
"Can I sleep in here tonight? I'll just sleep on the chair, you can have the bed."
"Of course, Colby." Sam paused and started walking back to his bed as Colby closes the door and walks to the chair.
"So what do you want me to talk about first?" Sam asks as they both got wrapped up in fuzzy blankets. The bright pink room lightened the mood a bit as they looked around while talking.
"Start with what you heard," Colby replied, "then tell me what you saw."
"Okay, well... There were a couple things we heard. Some of them minor, maybe just the house settling. And some were major, that I can't figure out how whatever it was made the noise, but i know that there has to be a reasonable explanation." Sam looked at Colby, who was looking back attentively.
"The minor one's were just a couple creeks here and there upstairs. But the other one's were sounds like growling, the piano playing, and cabinets closing." Sam took a moment to think.
"Maybe it was just a person driving a motorcycle, and the piano malfunctio-" Colby now seemed a tiny bit mad or annoyed.
"Sam, there's not always a reasonable explanation for everything, i know you don't believe in this stuff but seriously. Just believe me." Colby interrupted. Sam knew that there wasn't always a reasonable explanation for everything, but he wasn't ready to succumb to the fact that these happenings were by the Midnight Man.
"Okay, okay. So now do you want me to tell you what we saw?"
"Yes. Please." Colby quickly replied.
"Well. Corey had seen red eyes outside of the window maybe two times but it was only for about a second each time. Jake saw a quick movement but he said he couldn't explain what it was. And Kat and I saw a black figure for about three seconds on the stairs but then it went away." Colby looked at Sam with wide eyes.
"We also saw and heard that a glass cup had shattered and some pictures and camera equipment had fallen." Colby was now very clearly terrified.
"Colby? Are you okay??" Sam asked, worried.
"Y-ya, ya. It's just that, um, what I saw was a figure just like what you said that you and Kat saw, and it had red eyes, like what Corey saw, and it was at the end of my bed, staring at me, for maybe two minutes. Then it disappeared in a blur, maybe what Jake saw." Colby stopped, taking a moment to think about how to explain what he saw and heard next.
"Then, I heard and saw one of my glass jars get pushed off of my shelf and shatter. I didn't see what pushed it though, I just saw it get pushed." Sam sat in silence as Colby told him this.
"Did anything else happen, either in your room or when you were at my door?" Sam asked.
"Yes, when the jar fell I hid in my bed feeling paralyzed, then, I heard a knock on my door. I quickly ran up to answer it but no one was there so then I came over here thinking you did it but obviously you didn't." Colby was now a bit more calm, more than he was 5 minutes ago. Sam was still sitting on his bed staring at Colby.
"Maybe it was one of our other roommates that knocked on your door?" Sam said assuringly.
"No, I would have heard them run away or seen them as I opened my door, plus that would be pretty strange timing." Colby replied. He didn't seem scared anymore.
"Well let's just forget about it for now and go to sleep. Okay?" Sam said, eyes half closed.
"Okay. Good night."
